Reminds me when I tried the Mike Monday method. Basically set yourself 10/15 mins, bang something out, save it, bounce it, repeat as much as you like. Forget about them for a week and do NOT listen to them. After a week go back and listen to the bounces, not the ableton file. Most the time you won’t remember half of them and may surprise yourself with some inspired ideas

@@christiandavis6713 it’s just a term for recording audio. Comes from when I used to use logic, it said bounce to audio if I remember correctly.

I do something similar to that but a bit more developed and longer. Usually about 1.5 hours. I find if it's too short, like the MM splurge method I don't often have a result that grabs me enough to continue. But the principle is great. And I've just adapted it to what works for me.

Yeah great vid. Great way to go find your sound is just go listen to traxsource in all genres. After you save 100 tracks - start to group them up into feels.. groovy- disco - tech etc. the more you save into one category you know that is your jam! Then look and second group .. what in this do you like.. cont down through your groups and viola.. you kinda find your jam

Love your work D. I'm not sure the point in these rushing against the clock challenges, music should be considered. Doesn't set a good precedent to the young. Just my opinion. But a fun challenge I guess 🙏👊😎

Doing these same timer beats but instead playing the music in yourself is really powerful excersise. Just have your band members organised beforehand. So bass synth, a drum rack, sample, a pad synth, keys and plucky sound etc. It's amazing what you can come up with in 10 mins! Zero focus on quality, 100% focus on speed.

Hmmm... Normally I really dig your tutorials and love your sound, but against the clock with just flipping loops like in Magix music maker wasn't what I expected. No skills needed here. The rest you're doing is always top notch, but I don't get, what you're trying to show us here. How should anybody find is own sound with using only preproduced and labeled loops? With the usage of loopcloud everyone could do this. No front, just my thoughts. Keep on! ✌🏻

The against the clock thing was just a bit of fun. The point is about being creative to find an original and authentic sound that works for you in a practical and uncomplicated way. I get what you're saying about the loops thing. I was just trying to demonstrate the concept in a practical yet entertaining way. I guess for you, and probably others, I failed on the entertainment part. I appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts. That said, 10 mins is fuck all time to write anything, loops or otherwise. If you want to throw down the gauntlet I'd love to see what you come up with mate 😂. Care to show us how it's done?

I will also push back on the fact that you say "no skill needed here". I would argue that one of the most valuable and difficult skills to develop as a producer is the ability to select, curate and combine sounds in a meaningful way. Otherwise everyone could make great sounding music as we all have access to the same tools. Yet some people make music that resonates and some don't. I believe a big part of that comes down to training your ear to find the "right" sounds. I personally see nothing wrong with using loops. My approach is more about being inclusive with the different ways to get to the end result. And it's the end result that I care about. If I feel like it represents me and I stand behind it with integrity (for myself) the means or method by which I got there are pretty much irrelevant. I don't feel that putting constraints on myself about what is and isn't allowed has any benefit. But, as I said, I have to feel like the end result has integrity for me personally. An example of that for me would be something like combining elements from a construction kit like the guys Klankarusell did with their hit Sonnentanz. Or directly plagiarising someone else is another example. Or doing something because I think it could be a hit but I don't actually feel it represents me (I've done that in the past and it didn't feel good and also wasn't a hit either 😂😂😂). That's my opinion on it. You're fully entitled to yours also 😉
