I love the mountains, and especially the Pyrenees, and what I realized watching you, is that I have become somewhat of a worst-case-scenario thinker. What if... and then all sorts of accidents and mishaps. That's a miserable way to go through life, and an absolute no-go for this kind of camping. And I really enjoyed your no nonsense approach, not taking unnecessary risks but instead knowing what you are doing. Well done mate! and your video and editing style is breathtaking! Liked and subscribed!

Thanks so much for the kind words and the support! I’m definitely of the mind that (almost) any issue is fixable! The main benefit of living in the landrover is that it doesn’t matter how long it takes, I’ve got nowhere to be. I’ve found that in the mountains especially, people are very friendly if you are respectful to them and the environment. Over the past 1.5 months wildcamping in the alps and Pyrenees, I’ve had zero negative encounters with people or otherwise. So definitely going strong on that account!

Thanks for the kind words and the support! The road up to the mines definitely had some interesting obstacles! I’m so glad to have low range and the locking center diff. Luckily no sections of the road were off-camber (at least when I went up), so you never feel unsafe/like you are going to fall off the mountain :)

The wreck is of a UAZ 469 Hunter. A Russian 4x4, very rare in Europe.

I love me a good troopy! The Pyrenees are amazing, though I’m very curious to see how you get on in december! Might be a bit frosty out! Fyi, I think you are required to have snow-chains (in the car) after November 1st on the roads in the mountains around mines de liat and pic negre, but I’d definitely double check with google on that! Have fun!

I thought wild camping was illegal in Spain with fines if you get caught. Yet there you are wild camping. I guess you're working on the theory that it's so remote the chance of getting caught is also remote?

There are 17 autonomous regions in Spain, each with their own variations on the rules. Generally speaking you aren’t allowed to wildcamp indeed, but parking somewhere for a night is mostly not considered camping. The way my rooftop tent is set up would probably put me in the ‘camping’ and not ‘parking’ side of the regulations though. I always try to find spots where I don’t bother anyone, and aim to leave the places cleaner than I found them. I’ve come across more than a few locals while camped, and so far no-one seemed bothered by my presence! If I ever do get asked to leave, or get a fine, so be it. But usually, as long as you are not in a national park or other protected area, the cops have better things to do. Sidenote being that I’m well outside of peak tourist season ofcourse.
