The new American Dream, homesteading. Once you are bit by the bug you cannot turn back. For Daniel and his family, that has been their mission from day one. From multiple houses to finally landing the dream property at the height of a pandemic. They set out at full speed to accomplish not just a homestead but to make a profitable farming business. After doing it for some time and learning that hard earned “tuition” they are taking a step back to make sure the farm can keep moving forward. It’s not easy to say you have to scale back your dream, but when our ambitions rub up against reality, we must listen or we will be forced to.

Thank you for this video, your attitude to see your stumbling blocks as stepping stones is so on point, LoVE that you call them blessings! God is so amazing, He will reward your efforts in due time and you will reap what you sow. Hang in there, keep pushing forward. I too am starting my own chicken hatchery ( small scale) I also sell beautiful pasture raised eggs. Alot goes into marketing to the right customers and I'm still learning too. I give away way more eggs than I sell right now but that's ok, I'm learning as I go and people that are gifted my eggs see the difference and comment all the time how beautiful they are!! We like minded folk must stick together!!! Thank you for what you do, I will be following your channel for updates! Great job so far!! I'm subscribing too. God bless you as you take your next steps. Shalom

Just love the quotes on their web site! ie Joel and Richard Marketing is a real challenge! More than 3 hr at a farmers market is a lot of time with loading up, set up, selling, take down and driving.

My family in 1972 bought a farm, grew crops, bought beef cows, grew crops to sell at farmers market, my father was a surveyor, fought through the hard times especially in the 80s, 2 paper routes, father had heart attack declared disabled, declared bankrupt, chapter 17. As a child it was scary. My brother and I helped. We milked cows for 8 years, small business loan, my father asked to get off disability. He went to work as director of road department. We continue to farm. People picked out n halves and we sold at farmers market. Daddy retired. Both my brother and I graduated from Clemson and still helped on farm. Continuing to survey. Still trying to pay farm. I got a job teaching. My brother is teaching at a Tech school. It was hard. My father died. We continue to pray and work on farm. Well it took 50 years to pay off. My brother and I are raising beef cows, cutting hay and yes it’s still not easy and we still have tight times. I’m retired learning to raising goats. My brother is still teaching and farming. We are the second generation. The third generations I’m not sure about. 😕❤️🙏🇺🇸❤️. Farmers are so important to this country. ❤️🙏❤️. Today we are raising beef cows. My brother is still teaching. He cuts the hay and sals a small amount. The last 3 has been a little rough with economy. Our farm is now needing a little more upkeep as it is older. Yes my brother says no to goats. They are a lot harder to raise. I have my own little hobby farm of goats. My husband has helped by helping being the play vet. 😅. We sale our cows at sale barn. My brother is knowledgeable when to sell. We work with our cows. They are not wild. We worm and vaccinate. Make sure the have salt especially in the spring when they are eating so much green grass. We have been blessed to have met a man with 4-5 meat markets. He has one of his herds on our land. So eventually we will inherit these cows. He is taking the older babies to grow out and steers killed. Bottom line I think ppl are going to get tired of paying a high price for junk food. So hang in there!! Our motto was “keep on keeping on”!!! I raised and had about 45 chickens and sold while I taught school. That’s not easy as well. I don’t know a lot but I know this meat market person has grants and investors. I sold my own eggs and it’s not easy. Try these country stores. Good luck. It took 50 years to pay our farm off. It is a risk. One time my dad wanted a new TV. My mother said, “Jimmy you see that dump truck. That’s your TV. 😂❤. What worries me is now the 3rd generation. We have one who might farm. My son works for a representative in Washington. My brother has the one boy who may be interested. The daughter teaches probably no interest. Sooo. We are considering putting certain conditions after we live on our farm land. It is a journey!!! We raised pigs for years. 😉❤️
