Finally a podcast about singleness that isn't by someone that got married before 25 or even 20 lol. I turned 25 this year and that has always been kind of a mental deadline for me to get married so it was quite hard and i had to really get over the distrust in God and just general idolatry that i had of marriage. God has actually been using this time to really draw me deeper into relationship with Him, so that's really cool.

I appreciate all of y’all. Your entire community is a blessing to the body of Christ. The lord used his movement in y’all’s community to call me back to himself. It’s been a few years now and he has taught me alot about ministering to his heart and listening to his voice. I feel like I know so many people that I have never met just by spending time in the lords presence together. Just wanted to take the chance to say thank y’all and much love from Florida! I’ll be on a plane eventually to come in person. Waiting on his timing👍

Apostle Paul speaks on how singleness is better when following the Lord.

This message is so timely for me, as I’m walking through trying to be “active” in my singleness rather than stagnant. There was a lot of things I could take from both of your perspectives, though it was two women, but it’s an overall issue of how to prepare yourself for getting into a relationship. Also, the Gods timing thing is so key yet so hard to follow lol

It was so fantastic because Godly community UPLIFTS our very identity within Christ but only Jesus alone can satisy. When we lay our hearts open to Jesus, he becomes the battle ground of our surrender. Nothing else alone can accomplish- only Jesus knows what He intends to do from beginning to end and if you're waiting just as I am, you're in good company with Jesus, don't fear! Be strong and courageous, obedience is the Lord's refinement over your life! May Jesus bless you and prosper you to bloom where He plants you within your faith! May your heart be so hidden in the love of Jesus Christ that ONLY CHRIST ALONE in His timing, not your own, can draw you together in a blessed covenant of faith with your future God-fearing wife in His timing.

I have an honest question! I enjoyed listening to y’all’s perspective and I was very encouraged and wholeheartedly agree, Jesus the the fulfillment of all of my longing - interestingly enough spending a lot of time studying the weight of Glory by CS Lewis really helps spell that out in a deeper way for me. BUT MY QUESTION! Is this advice more for the ladies, and less for the young men? I’m in my mid thirties, and there is a lot of mixed-messaging on this topic. A man is the pursuer, and the one who initiates, is commonly the conviction I feel, but I am hesitant to put myself out there, because the last thing I’d want to is to get what I want, before it’s time, if that makes sense, (thinking lamentations a time for all things in their season, and what you said “if you don’t have it you don’t need it”) Any input or thoughts would be helpful! God’s Peace!

I have 3 friends who are sisters and their Dad was a pastor of a small local Jamaican church for much of their lives. They felt God calling them to leave the church (for many reasons), and they eventually made the tough decision to look for other churches. It did initially really strain the relationship with their parents, but they now have such a rich community at their new church, and they're even able to go back and visit their parents church every now and then. It's created some healthy boundaries for them too. I'm not saying this is what you should do, I just wanted to share the story so that you know it's an option :)

I’m often always immensely frustrated by these sorts of podcast dating conversations, because they often rehash very vague Christian truisms and common talking points without really stabbing at the heart of the issue, or proposing new diverging views. I definitely have a fundamentally different view, I feel, from most Christian’s in that I think that the way marriage is practiced generally makes it an evil or harmful institution rather than a good one. Not because God has done something wrong, but that humans have missed and culturalized so much of it into these dead boxes of discontent, stagnation, and divorce. I also disagree that singleness is this blessed thing. We are so zealous to heal and soften the blow that being single leads to that we deny any chance for people to truly let it sink in to their soul a la “fear and trembling.” I used to be overwhelmingly addicted to the idea of getting married, but the more I have experienced life, the more I have come to the conclusion that singleness is not only a superior route, but maybe the only route I’m capable of taking. I wish I could explain more of my viewpoint or talk with the content creators of this channel, maybe even in person, but these conversation leave a lot out that just nobody really wants to talk about.

Maybe you’re the one that’s suppose to talk about it. If you have a frustration and zeal for something that doesn’t current exist, maybe that’s your invitation from the Lord to fill the gap you see! I bet if you took it to prayer, the Lord would give you language that could help people struggling with this same thing. Start a channel, release a video, encourage people! We’d love to cheer you on!!

I re read my comment and I realized that I really didn’t get to the points I wanted to address so I’ll try to bullet them. Singleness: a Useful state, but it’s harmful if you otherwise want to be married. Most Christians see it as this beautiful state and time, but I think it seldom really is a beautiful time. I think in order for it to actually be a beautiful thing, you must be assured that you have no interest in marriage and work towards the talents and goal that god placed on your soul. Being single is like walking to work, it’s unpleasant if you don’t want to, but if you truly do appreciate it and embody it, then it’s vastly superior to being married. Marriage: I think most people shouldn’t get married. And I say this because marriage is probably the biggest idol that Christian’s have. And yet we really only want marriage for the things that it can give us, and not the realities that it should be built on. This is why divorce is so high, even for Christian’s. I also think that in marriage sex should have even higher requirements. The goal of marriage is to honor God, but that means in laying down and sacrificing your deepest wants if it means the other persons betterment. Most married men are no better and channel the exact same lust they had prior to being married in their current relationship as if it’s somehow okay now that they are married. I think even if you get married, most couples are still practicing lust, not actual love.
