Join Diamond Miner at a secret creek in North Texas where Ammonites, fish, plants, and other organisms that are now fossilized can be found inside the ancient mud that covered the land over 60 million years ago. I might have broke my personal record for largest Ammonite!! ITS HUGE!! Several massive fossils i can’t even pick up. plus i was able to save a COMPLETE AMMONITE using the RD1 drill. Enjoy the video!
Become a Element & Gemstone Collector today, and you’ll receive a beautiful Complete Ammonite for you first monthly package that comes with 3 Lbs of Unsearched Diamond Ore!!

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty Rockhound here: Every thing is bigger in Texas!! I once watched a 7 inch centipede cross the state line from Oklahoma into Texas and grow to 12 inches! LoL Seriously though, We have shale beds here in N.E. Oklahoma with ammonites, coral, trilobites etc. But they are all smaller. I can't imagine how thrilling it would be to find one larger than the palm of your hand!!! Rock on!!!

All those fossils would be eroding from the upper Duck Creek, Fort Worth and Denton-Weno formations. I would also scan the shale layers for shark teeth (Cretalamna mainly) and echinoids (Macraster, Holaster, Goniophorus). The age of those layers are pretty much right at 100 million and slightly over actually. When you get to the next higher layer in the stratigraphy like Pawpaw Formation you are at 99 million. The only layers in Texas at 60 million are in East Texas and those would be post Cretaceous Period anyways into the Cenozoic Period.

If you actually find a meteorite that size.. take it home.. Common iron meteorite prices are generally in the range of US$0.50 to US$5.00 per gram. Stone meteorites are much scarcer and priced in the US$2.00 to US$20.00 per gram range for the more common material. It is not unusual for the truly scarce material to exceed US$1,000 per gram. 1 pound is about 453 grams.. .. just saying bud..
