Hi, I actually love how u did this experiment. Using the different strippers on different parts of the car really shows how it could be effective on other items that u might want to use it on. I am looking to refinish my kitchen table and cabinets and this video really helped me choose the citrastrip. It seems it will do a great job at taking off the top layer only, so I don't damage the wood. Thank u for spending the time to do this video. U r awesome 💜

Nice video, I've been looking at getting a 280z as a future project car and want to go about restoring the same way you do. I will say your videos have helped greatly in my research as I am still a beginner when it comes to cars. Also, I must compliment you on the way you conducted your testing. Thank you for making this video! I am just about to begin chemically stripping my 1955 GMC truck. I was leaning toward Aircraft Remover, as I've used it with great results in the past. I've also used Jasco with good results, too. I realize ingredients have changed in recent years. But your video confirms for me that these two are still the best of the bunch.

The aircraft stripper before it was changed was unbelievable. It worked fast, deep and if you didn't care about nose hairs you'd apply without a respirator! LOL.

KleenStrip failed to remove ANY of the stubborn oil paint from my wooden rocking chairs ... More research followed and your visual demo comparison utilizing Scientific Method was key! Brilliantly done, Thank you for generously sharing all your hard work with us =) =) Excited to give another try using your Jasco tomorrow ... I had no idea a scratch on my custom painted Italian leather sofa would lead me on a month long journey into the paint refinishing world. Now I am not only refinishing the paint to my leather couches, but I am additionally stripping two oil painted patio rocking chairs, and also glitter blinging out a large kitchen wall picture frame Hahaha! (Leather stripping requires a special delicate deglazer though, Jasco would be way too strong for that just FYI). But I thank you for recommending Jasco, as I had nearly lost faith once the KleenStrip failed miserably on my rockers. Keep up the good work & happy creating ~

I paid 80 bucks for air craft stripper and it did nothing ,the old stuff although not safe worked almost immediately with out the wait time, as long as you were safe the old stuff was safe as well

You did a lot of work, and its helpful to know what to purchase. for reference with the original Lightning Strip and plastic wrap i would have already stripped, prepped and applied two part epoxy primer and been cleaning the paint gun after 2 hours, for a deck lid. of course my generation didn't have or use car seats.

I found the same thing with the Jasco stripper that you chose. The Kwik-Strip is made by the same company as Jasco (and possibly the Citristrip) but I found the Jasco to work faster and clean up easier, as well. Thanks for this review it confirmed by findings!

If you ever used zip strip you will know that all these products are worthless. This is a classic case of taking a great product and ending it because some people were harmed from misuse.

The citrus strip uses an oil found in orange peels as its active ingredient. Citrus peels contain a solvent/oil, D-limonene that is the active ingredient. It works by causing non crosslinked paints to swell and debond from the surface. The odor is not added!

Thanks for a helpful experiment. I've used Aircraft Remover and Jasco, and I also prefer the Jasco. FYI, I just bought a new can at Lowes last week (May 2022), the price is now over $25 a quart.

I use the old paint stripper for years many years 40 years without a respirator with no ill effects and it worked very well and save me a whole lot of time the new stripper is a waste of money and cost twice as much

Blue Bear GL 600 soy strip. I did 3 layer of paint and primer on a Porsche in a weekend. SLow dry and if you cover it with plastic no dry. Spread easy, doesn't hurt your eyes. No smell. Not cheap but awesome. Made of concentrated soy stripper. Used it for years.

Honestly, impressed with the approach. Thanks for the effort. I am restoring myself, a 68 Mustang Fastback, and I'm always looking for tips. I have several layers to strip - in some cases a primer over two coats of paint over primer. Also, I have to strip undercoating, and while I had decided to go with Aircraft, I may also consider dry ice in some places. Have you stripped undercoating? By the way, I subscribed. If you don't mind, I have a couple other questions if you have the chance. I have not yet looked through all your videos for evidence, but how's that Fortress compressor working for you? Is it working with higher CFM air tools, and do you plan to paint the car using it? I noticed you are working with cordless Milwaukee grinders. What's your setup there in terms of batteries (and performance). Nice job on the wooden body supports by the way. I'm considering my own welded body support using steel tube and casters.

I needed to strip a car and was able to while I could still get the air craft stripper in the auto parts store with the Methylene Chloride in it. But, right when I got to the bumper cover of my car, all of a sudden I couldn’t find the aircraft stripper anywhere. It was like the ones I bought were the last of it. Then it was back in the stores again but without Methylene Chloride and let me tell you! That stuff DOES NOT WORK PERIOD. Do NOT buy It…. You will be wasting your money. That’s why I’m so thankful for this video so I could actually see what would work. And the future is not looking that bright. I also researched and found out why they took the Methylene Chloride out. It was dummies using it in closed confined space with on ventilation and no PPE.

biggest issue with the methylere chloride replacement products is they flash off too fast to be useful. you end up having to apply them 3-4 times. multistrip and citristrip you can lay them on thick and though they don't work as fast you only have to apply it once and let it sit for a few hours. let them sit overnight and it will take it down to bare metal. They can also be sprayed with an airless pump which should give you some idea's if you are using this for production work

I use the citrus strip for my car rims since I have tires on them & don’t want to damage it Incase I spill some on them. this does the job very well I leave it overnight . since it does take 24hr to do what the quality of the Jasco/Aircraft . Plus the smell is a big plus for since I work in a close area. I guess it depends how fast you want the job done. Thank you for doing this comparison of products 👌🏽

I can tell you from experience. Get some good industrial squirt bottles and spray the best stripper you have. Spraying it is not only faster but it apply the stripper evenly and you can get a thick coat on. Using a brush thins out the amount you are using. Also, whatever bottles you use for this will be rendered useless after a few fill ups. The stripper will destroy the pump.

I am looking at the Jasco product page and it says to keep it off of rubber and plastic, but I see you used plastic wrap on top of it. Did you notice if the jasco damaged the plastic wrap or tape? I want to use this on my datsun project but in some areas I may be near trim or wires and need to know how to protect them. Thanks!

Extremely well done video! I thought your “scientific method” approach to testing was very informative.

I used Aircraft Remover by Rustoleum and fairly pleased. Removed paint down to the metal and stripped clear coat off aluminum.

When using the aircraft paint stripper it works better with a brush cut its bristles down to half inch (STIFFER) and dabbed on. Also cover with plastic to keep the gases contained allowing it to work on releasing paint better.

Wish I watched this before I spent on 3 different strippers. So far I've been using 3 year old KleanStrip Stripper that jellied up but still works 10x better then newer formulas but it's hard to apply in it's gelation state.

Any chance you can do something like this for rust removers

Good video. I tried jeico on cement floor and loosen up the paint pretty easy. Just do it when there's shade or else it dries quick and won't do its job

No wonder I'm having trouble getting paint off my woodwork! Been in the same old house for years, and have had to strip paint off pine and sadly, beautiful oak as well. Had not purchased stripper in a few years, used some of my old Citristrip recently and it worked pretty good. Was running low so bought Sunnyside 2 Minute, a clear gel, what garbage! Pasted in on, 15 minutes later returned, it did nothing but evaporate. Tried again, wouldn't even phase Latex paint!! Then noticed the "No Methylene Chloride" label. Luckily found an old can of BIx, it really stinks but really works.

The multi-strip is a 24 hour product. It will strip down to bear metal, it also dissolves body filler.

So have you used the Jasco paint stripper to start removing the paint from the outside body of your car? I am planning to do just that first to Jasco paint stripper and some paint stripping days to remove more and then a cheap spot and blaster from Harbor freight 😅 like you said in this video I have learned a combination of a few things has been what works best but I’m really curious about the paint stripper if it something I should do first??

I remember the good ol days when would just pour the air craft stripper on let it sit 10 minutes come back and spray it with a water hose and and have a clean shiny rim now it just all sucks

You are supposed to prep the surface with a quick scuff with 80 grit sand paper to help the stripper bite in btw!
