I spent some years of my childhood in New Delhi because of my dad's job - he had been a young diplomat serving as a protocol attaché in New Delhi, until the Warsaw Pact collapsed and our home country got absorbed by its capitalist twin which made the complete diplomatic staff obsolete over night. The affinity to South Asia remained because in contrast to their western counterparts the eastern diplomats had been trained as specialists for a geographic region as for instance South Asia - my dad had learned _burmese,_ the language spoken in Myanmar at university for that reason, and if history had gone differently he would have served in the region for his whole professional life, so India always occupied a special place in our hearts since then. I'd really like to know how the park in this video came to existence - it had to get funded somehow and it looks like people knew what they were doing. It's pretty curious that something like this emerged in rural Rajasthan.. Have you ever heard about the german NGO "SkateAid"? They are sending donated boards and other stuff to countries where people struggle to afford hardware, but they also had build a whole professional skate park in northern Afghanistan where they taught boys and girls alike how to skate. I wonder whether it still exists now that the taliban are in power again.. 😥
