My mom said there were rumors that she may have black ancestry.

When I was 7 years old that was going around that she was black. So 10% was true. She did not look shocked because of course she knew like fans suspected.

Or they say they were ‘Cherokee’…..at least mine did. There isn’t a drop of Native American blood in our veins…. I get it,unfortunately it was harder to claim your African ancestry back then. But it’s sad, because I don’t know my full history

I've seen a test of someone who was 100% Korean for instance going back many generations who found out they were also fairly recently related to populations in Japan(20% Japanese DNA commonality) though no one in the family for several generations had any recollection of Japanese ancestry. We are all "mixed" period. Also these tests are a snap shot of the sperm and egg that made YOU, not a total Laundry list of everything in one's background. You can have ancestors of other races whose genetics you did not inherit.

@@beyourself2444 race is an arbitrary designation anyway and a fairly recent concept in human history. Geneticists aren't tracking "racial" groups, they're tracking genetic populations - they compare the DNA with modern local population samples and deduce an Ancestral link from the information.

You should try to understand what DNA results can actually tell you before trying to utilize them as support for nonsense. A 100% Admixture result isn't an indication that an individual doesn’t have mixed ancestry.

I saw that as 7 yr old kid. I knew instantly she wasn't "white" - there are many photo's of her mother Andrea Simon - she's so dark - she's not even a passe blanc.. just look at some photos of her at "Robert Kennedy and Kenneth Keating campaigning in Riverdale & Andrea Simon"...

Sometimes, for one reason or another, people without the genetic connection adopt that religion (usually because they’re marrying someone who practices it). Much more often, historically, people with Jewish ancestry converted to Christianity in order to avoid persecution or expulsion from their homes. I have what I thought were generic Mediterranean looks, thanks to my Sicilian mother, but throughout my life, people would assume I was Jewish and would treat me as such (for good or for ill). Turns out they were onto something: when my DNA was analyzed, it came out 30% Jewish, and it’s clear that it’s from my mother’s side.
