I photographed two new buildings in Brooklyn NY with my Nikon D850. In this video I also show you how I processed one of the images in Photoshop CC.

Thanks, Jay. This was amazing. Now that I have moved to the NE, I’d hope that one of these days, I see you out photographing some buildings - and get to meet you in flesh!

Has a nice Gotham feel to it Jay and was good to see that security let you crack on without any interference. Nice series of images too

Another great video Jay. Thanks for your tutorials as they have really helped me get a greater understanding and appreciation of black and white fine art photography. I have used the new skills to produce a few good ones of my own. Couldn’t have done it without your tutorials, thanks again

@@JCImagesBehindtheShot Thanks Jay - have watched all of your videos so have put together a list. A question I do have is about using a tripod when shooting outside buildings like the Empire State, etc. Are there any restrictions?

Hello Jay, enjoying your videos as I explore this kind of photography. Question: do you normally do all of your selections, THEN go back and create your adjustment layers on each one of them, or do you work on a selection immediately after you have created it? Thank you and keep up the great work.
@JCImagesBehindtheShot5 ай бұрын
Thanks David. I generally make most of the selections before. I get a cup of coffee, but on some music and just make selections. Invariably, there is part of an image that I realized I still to select and have to go back but I do most ahead of time.

Another excellent video Jay - just wish mine looked as good as yours!🤣(One day hopefully). One of your first steps always seems to be to select the sky and pull back some of the detail in the moving clouds. If not used a long exposure time (quite often I'm stood in the road so can only manage handheld shutter speeds), however, there's often no detail there to be retrieved. I'm sure, in an earlier video, you showed a technique in Photoshop to, at least, simulate moving clouds - I think it was using Filter/Render/Clouds, (my own feeble efforts have been unusable) but search as I might, I just can't find it. Would you be able to post a link to it in a reply, please. Lots of love from the UK

Great images and tutorial Jay! I really liked the vertical at 6:32. Thanks for the tutorial as well, I always learn something new I didn't know. Do you ever have anyone try to run you off while photographing these buildings?
@JCImagesBehindtheShot Жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I get chased away fairly often. Generally, tripods are not welcome in public places.

Great video as always, Jay. Also great captures of the apartment buildings. As a Williamsburg native long since gone from the area, I am surprised by all the changes in the area. What street are these buildings located?
@JCImagesBehindtheShot Жыл бұрын
This was on Kent Ave. The who area has been changing a lot.

Jay, how do you find these wonderfull buildings?

Sorry for the delay Adam! Tons of research and some luck. I am always on the look out for new subjects. This building was suggested by my son who just moved to Brooklyn.
