Full tour of a beautiful 32' tiny house on wheels with a dramatic black exterior and a minimalist Scandinavian interior home design. It has a custom breakfast bar, DIY sofa and space-saving storage, compact multi-purpose ladder, main-floor bedroom, and a spa-like bathroom. This house is off the grid and has a separate systems shed for the 4000-Watt solar power system and a 2000-gallon water storage tank.
This house was designed and built by Lee and Payam from Instead Tiny Homes as their prototype model, and Lee and his family have been living in it for almost a year now. You can find out more about Instead's incredible work here:

The use of every inch of space is remarkable. It brings to light that the excess we in America are accustomed to is unnecessary and frankly, ridiculous. The Europeans live in small homes and I’m glad we are finally adopting this more efficient and sensible way of living. I love these videos; it’s got me on the downsizing track to tiny living for my looming retirement.

Maybe a different tax structure is required to help incentivize more environmentally responsible lifestyles. Currently the incentives are mostly biased away from health and environmental thriving: like relying on gas sales to pay for transportation infrastructure, or incentivizing farmers to grow corn which artificially reduces the costs and incentivizes the production of unhealthy foods... But I'm moving off topic

It absolutely baffles the mind that a govt can decide where/how you live but they cant make a plan for affordable homes for the current and future generations We have the same issue where I am, housing is stupidly expensive and you arent permitted a tiny home/home on wheels without jumping through 100s of hoops
@leeloewen2326
@leeloewen2326 2 жыл бұрын
@Tim Reilly I dislike the argument that we should avoid any change in how we do things because our current systems are incentivizing people to do things status quo. If we want to see actual change in a way that respects the environment, we need to change the systems that encourage over consumption, and material depletion. I'm fine being taxed in other ways to pay for necessary infrastructures. I have no issues with production as long as it doesn't require exploitation to be profitable.

I love the stunning uncluttered simplicity of their design, yet how clever their solutions are. The combination shoe storage, breakfast nook seating bench, coffee table is brilliant! However, in their climate (I grew up in Michigan down south, but still very cold snowy winters) I would want a place to hang up wet clothing vrs stowing it in that bench. I imagine they have some kind of system that works for them though as they've thought of everything else! I would also want more head space in the loft so I could at least sit up in bed. Makes me wonder why they didn't but the skylight over their heads for just that reason and to be able to look up and see the stars. Anyway, WOW!!!
@pdq5465

I agree with your appreciation of the design, and also about hanging winter clothing. I’ve found that most tiny homes don’t accommodate winter coats, boots, scarves etc. Lack of such storage would be a problem here in Canada too.

@@Chris-eg4xf Wow Hello🙂 I was so happy to have received a call from the architect the designed the Raven HouseOriginall which is the home I found that I love so much. I found the land I wish to nestle it in and begin but to answer your question I have anxiety with what I am envisioning. I enjoyed your video to learn how your feng shui decisions went. I wish to begin with my lifestyle change but will need lots of advice. If it does not happen for me..I got to speak with the architect. I chose the cabin with the idea to have a mini also to serve as a guest house/bath house. If you have any advice I welcome suggestions as I only have the vision and desire at the moment. Mr. Pete suggest the next step to be to secure the land but I haven't 2 dimes to rub together to make a fire..I am as broke as a bag of glass😄 but the idea was to rent them out to others until it would pay itself off and then move into it unless you have advice towards a different approach to all of this. but yes before I end up writing a novel (I just wrote blabbed)😄I hope to see this happen. Your advice is welcome. I loved how your family made use of your space on the interior. Inspiring and lovely. Enjoy and hugs to beautiful baby. Teri🌼

Beautiful design. The best I've seen. It's ridiculous that these aren't allowed as main dwellings in urban areas. And they shouldn't have to sit on trailer frames. The seating looks very confined. A sofa needs an angled back even if it eats up your floor space.

My favourite humanure idea is to do the deed inside, then immediately bring both outside, it never builds up in any containment inside the house. You can keep the humanure in a sealed container outside until it's time to dispose of, or compost it. It doesn't need to be inside. Pee can go out in the grey water even.

Beautiful design & build. Much to be proud of. I love the basic simplicity; the pine plywood is beautiful & will take on its own patina with age. The stainless steel countertops are really ideal. Had those in a previous home. Never need to worry about sealing like granite or potential bacteria as with butcher block. Children are so adaptable- your son won't recognize he's living tiny until he's older & by then used to this lifestyle. I'm curious about the certification & size of windows in the loft. Couldn't quite tell if they qualify as egress windows in case of emergency. Floor to ceiling height in the loft looks tight- assuming because of the mattress as you implied. I noticed what looks like wood stored under the home-from previous experience it invites lots of critter problems & was one of our biggest nightmares. From a racoon getting stuck & dying beneath (think horrific odor) to a swarm of destructive yellow jackets I'd advise against this. We finally built a separate storage area about 15 feet away. Wishing your family many happy, wonderful years living tiny & great success with the business!

4 KW system is apparently sadly not enough for them in northern latitude winters. I counted 24 panels so that's only about 160 watts/panel. Money is already spent so they probably couldn't upgrade to more efficient panels, but maybe they could add a wind generator for winter winds.
@leeloewen2326
@leeloewen2326 2 жыл бұрын
@@dodgeplow it's actually 12x 325w panels, so they are already on the higher end of efficiency. I do think doubling our battery storage capacity could possibly help ride out the lows of winter, since we were frequently able to get to 100% charge during the day, but the evenings start before 5pm in the winter so it's a long period of drawing from the batteries, when you're consuming the most.
@dodgeplow
@dodgeplow 2 жыл бұрын
@@leeloewen2326 The panels have divisions that make them look double that number. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't recall the size of your battery bank. How much wind do you get in your area? If you're handy, you could make a DIY wind generator cheap with a used car alternator from a salvage yard for extra power. There are plenty of How-To webpages and videos about it.

Love it ! .. We live in a 37 ft trailer in Barrie .. We're on the lake and have been here for over 20 years and we absolutely love it .. The cheap living is the best thing but our problem is, we're in a park and the hydro's included .. That sounds nice but it's not, as we only have 20 amps in a trailer that requires at least 30 .. Could you tell me what kind of Generator you have and how much? .. We have the tankless hot water by reliance which was life changing for us!! .. We also added on full steel roof so it doesn't get as hot inside in the summer and I feel more safe, as we live on a fully large, old treed lot .. It is a must see as our home is absolutely gorgeous, like your lovely home and family .. Your baby is such a beautiful blessing!! 👨‍👩‍👦🍁

This may be a controversial opinion, but if it were me, I would sleep head facing the opposite way in the loft. Appliances like fridges emit radiation - some more than others - and moving your head just a few feet further away can significantly limit exposure. Great build nonetheless!

Hello, nice build. It is possible to build a Murphy above your seating area in your living room. It would blend in seamlessly if you used the same wood that you already have. Could do the same in the baby room for guest. Guest stay for short periods of time, right!

I like the tiny house concept, but if I went to tiny house living I would like it a bit higher so I could stand up in the bedroom and maybe a little wider. I live in Chicago in a condo and am not really happy with it, but there is no tiny home community here;; I would really like that.

Hi. What kind of ceiling fans are those? It appears that I found similar ones at Lowes and a Westinghouse version on Amazon. But not sure if those are the "good ones" 🧐
