My new folding phone just arrived... Do it yourself style. Check out the worlds thinnest book style folding phone, the Honor Magic V2 HERE: www.hihonor.com/global/phones... and huge thanks to honor for sponsoring this video. It's pretty mind blowing how thin and light a flagship folding phone can get! The Honor Magic V2 is just 9.9mm thick and weights only 231 grams! #HONORMagicV2 #IFA23 #HONORIFA2023 #UnfoldTomorrow

@daruyami
@daruyami 9 ай бұрын
Actually it's the reverse - they would have to disassemble already assembled phones. The same happens with the Framework laptops - they need to assemble them first to test if they work like they should (and if they even are assemblable in the first place, defects happen) and then if you chose the disassembled version then they have to disassemble them. There somewhere was LTTs video where he has shown the factory of Framework laptops where he also explains this process.

@devnol

As a nerd I would kill to be able to do that but warranty liability would like to have a word with us. Other than that, I would see this as an absolute win since production costs can be reduced by cutting out on assembly. However, this may counter-intuitively not always be the case. Framework for example, will sell you a diy kit for their laptop where you have to assemble it yourself (or at least populate the barebones parts like storage, ram and networking) but as the somewhat recent factory tour by ltt showed, they still need to assemble, and then in some cases even DISassemble the device in the factory for qa and test purposes, meaning that it actually is more time and resource-intensive to have such a diy offering. If you actually read all this I sincerely apologize for wasting your time but also thanks, you rock!

It's actually genius. Instead of sending you pre-assembled phones that get destroyed during the tear down, sending you the unassembled parts to assemble them yourself serves the same purpose of the tear downs while still keeping the phone alive. Also as a bonus it's really satisfying to see all those tiny parts come together to make a working phone. Great video.

It hurts me every time you poke, stab, scratch, burn, bend and break a phone, knowingly you just test it for durability. I am glad that this time Honor sent you parts to assemble, much peaceful video. Loving it.

Thats awesome. Instead of you having to break it first, you can inspect internals first, then build and test durability.

Great video. It is very cool to see a phone that you can self-assemble. However, the lack of water resistance will prevent me from purchasing it. Additionally, I would consider the "Thickness" of the phone to include the cameras... since they substantially thicken both of the phones.

Probably the most creative phone video from Zack in a long time! Should've finished the video with the bend test. I can't see that phone holding up like Samsung's... I love my Z Fold 4 and am intrigued by Honors design, but not sure about durability
