Ugh, I tried using cake lace paste in a few different silicone molds that came out horribly. I am an artist and love doing anything creative. I am also a perfectionist.That can be quite problematic when things don’t have the end result I was hoping for. Oh Alex, you gave me a great idea! My wedding anniversary is April 16! I am going to use the embroidery from my wedding dress, which is threads of the palest silk -white, purple, yellow and green. Since quarantine has changed everything, we won’t be able to have our friends and family to celebrate with. We went to St. Lucia and eloped there in 2019. We were supposed to have a party at our house over this past summer. My husband loves to cook and I love to bake. So we will be having our own celebration!

sometimes the best results are made from mistakes, the extra height adds a beauty to it...i love this design, i love piping especially when hand done. i have been wanting to do this for ages and i cant wait to try this out. the gaps add a shadow which gives an elegant look to the end result. so simple yet beautiful. thank you for another lovely video :) have a lovely day xx

Good day miss I just would like to say thank you for answering my questions about fondant and piping. It costs me about 30 KZfaq videos just from a simple answer. # CAN FONDANT BE USED AS PIPING? = Yes add a few drops of water till you get the desired thickness, or so,And walla you can pipe with fondant as if was cream in your bag. (pardon my way of saying things pls, an Afrikaanse person Engels in not as good as yours)

Is there a way how to use this method for a round cake? I need to pipe a design but I don’t trust myself to pipe it straight on the cake and this seems like an amazing idea!
@laurarojas9758
@laurarojas9758 9 ай бұрын
I can tell you from experience from making this after this exact recipe that the pieces are very very fragile. And then if you peel them without breaking and you set them aside for a day they may for some unknown reason crack apart anyway I suppose from extended drying. However, I have an idea for your problem although it was months ago. First you will need to measure your cake's circumference after shaving them and extrapolate the thickness of the icing or plan to go up to the next size pans circumference and then using that next size up pan (preferably as tall or as close to the height as you want to make your cake if you can find a pan deep enough) and messure some wax paper around the exact circumference and cut it out. Then cut it in exactly 4 pieces. Then draw your design on each piece and tape them on the pan I would suggest one at a time and find a way to stabilize the pan to have the surface you taped the paper on to be up right as in parallel to the ground so you can work on it as if it was laying on a table but to have the curved surface. Or method #2 would be too get some thicker but maleable poster board and curve it and tape it to the exact circumference/curvature of 1/4 of a next size up pan to the table then tape the wax paper on 4 of those to work on. Either way you need the exact curved surface of your cake to be able to go on flush against your cake when applying them. But again Warning! These pieces are extremely fragile and hard to work with. You may just want to practice on your piping and pipe straight on the cake.

Hi, yes it is the wrong side (bottom side when piping that faces outwards. I think you can add it on and the icing shouldn't be dyed black, just don't leave it in the fridge for too long otherwise it may begin to bleed from the humidity

Hi, it's a wonderful video tutorial you posted! I am just curious about a few things. When I go to the video of the royal icing recipe you have linked the recipe calls for uncooked egg whites.You mention in this video that you allowed it to dry for over 24 hours. Was that refrigerated or room temperature? Also is that still safe to eat or not or just purely for decoration? thank you!

Thank you! I would get a faux cake, measure the circumference of it and divide by 4. Make 4 panels of wax paper that you can pipe on. Then tape one piece onto the side of the faux cake, pipe, let it dry, then you can attach them all. Hope that makes sense!

@@FinespunCakes Thanks. I made them and used them for a cake already. However, I peeled them in advance so I can see if I made enough extra or if too many would break so I'd have time to make more before I'd need them. But even though they peeled off nicely a couple days later they broke anyway without being touched as they lasted out on a flat surface. I don't understand why. But I was able to use them anyway, I didn't have much choice. The presentation, therefore, is not what I hoped for but I think it's alright. I still need to pipe more icing to decorate around and hide edges, so hopefully that will fix things.
@FinespunCakes
@FinespunCakes Жыл бұрын
@@laurarojas9758 I'm not sure why they broke, that's never happened to me before. Could be the environment- if it's too humid. Or if the outer border wasn't quite thick enough to support them?

@@FinespunCakes they broke without being touched. Just as they lay flat. I prepeeled them and left them flat undisturbed on the parchment paper for a day. When i went to use them i noticed most were broken and i know they weren't moved or anything. Not too sure what happened either.
