Filters are like the cherry on top in digital art! It's always nice to experiment with them since you can create effects that might not be possible in traditional art. So I highly recommend playing around with your digital work of art. You never know what cool results you can get :D

I always feel bad when I filter because I'm scared I'll get bullied by other artists for "not actually drawing" or coloring my art even tho I DID, its I secret that the art community is insanely toxic and hypocritical
@user-qf4kr8ef1k4 ай бұрын
Huh? That doesn’t make any sense, using filter on your art is a common practice, it applies to other art form too like photography,animation, film making/ videography,3d and many more, It’s not only a draw or painting exclusive things. Are u sure the art community is toxic or is it you the one who create a toxic environment by making false statements and accusations ??
@oyunorka4 ай бұрын
You shouldn't ever feel bad for using filters! Even in professional animation studios, lots of the lighting / filtering work done in the compositing stage really brings the colors and mood together! Adding correctional layers is definitely a skill as well : D
@xylophone_8884 ай бұрын
@@user-qf4kr8ef1k way to support someone that gets bullied, "ive never seen it so you must be at fault here!!!!" like just shut the front door... the art community IS violently toxic, people get doxxed for showing the tool bar of their art program ffs let alone filters, stop pretending like everything's perfectly fine
@nem3sis.yt_4 ай бұрын
filters are also common in traditional art, many painters will use a transparent overlay color to change a painting it’s vibe, same goes for copic marker artists, the only difference with digital filters is that you can adjust things precisely, that does NOT mean it’s less talented, just more flawless
@yellow89803 ай бұрын
I think so many professional artists also use 'filter', like gaussian blue

Also definitely recommend utilizing materials with texture and using texture brushes to add texture. They're a great way to add more pizzazz to ones art besides filters.

Thank you for finally helping me understand how the tone curve works I think the first time I started adding filters at the end of the process was when i saw a tip that putting a copy of the meeged drawing on overlay and then using gaussian blur on it gives sort of an anime screencap feel. That's when i found out about the power of post processing lol. Another favorite of mine is meege everything to a new layer, using gradient maps, then playing around with layer modes and opacity. As a professional, i use these exact same methods for any of my finished works. The advice i'd give to a less experienced artist is to not overdo filters to the point where the drawing is unrecognizable and try finding the base values through monochromatic checks while drawing because it can look muddy if left to filters entirely, it was often an issue my college professors would point out to us especially with more painterly styles as opposed to layered cell shading. Filters are amazing, just try not to put too many of them at once (for example, all of this PLUS flare effects, laser effects, another 5 glow and multiply layers you'd put on there "for a little contrast" and end up with something you weren't planning on) as they could conflict with one another REAL fast

Hey, thanks a ton for the tutorial, Oyun! Your videos are awesome, and your explanations make everything so clear! I really got hooked on your artificial lighting tutorial as well. It was fascinating to see how everything came together so well. But I gotta admit, I couldn't quite nail it myself. So, I've got a suggestion for a future video: Picking the right colors when using blending modes for painting shadows and light? People like me, who struggle with colors, always end up with either super saturated or too dark shades because of bad hue, value and saturation choices using blending modes. And even when we try middle tones, it all gets muddy. >-< A tutorial on how to choose colors in a layer with blending modes would be a great complement for past and future tutorials, also it would be helpful to know the layers ordering with the tutorials! Thank you again for your time making these tutorials, I don't miss any of your videos, watching them turn on my mood for drawing
@oyunorka4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!! And ohh picking colors for using blending modes is a great idea for a future video! I'll add it to my list! By layer ordering, do you mean the order of which effects should be applied, or which layers should be above/below when using things like overlay/add/multiply/etc.? Or both? Thank you for watching, I'm really happy to hear that!! TT
@Sawasavva4 ай бұрын
@@oyunorka Oh, sorry for not being clear! I was refering to the overall ordering of the layers in the tutorials! Since a different ordering of the layers might be a reason for different results, that's what I though it could be better to know the ordering! >-

Oh no!! Yeah I've heard of some bad experiences w Huion in the past, especially with their drivers, though I didn't have any issues when testing- I think Huion especially has been making lots of strides in improving their tech, with releasing QHD tablets last year iirc? My younger brother has an iPad and when he came to my room & tried out the Kamvas briefly, he thought it was pretty similar in responsiveness to his iPad and Apple Pencil, though I can give it to him to test more and reply back in a few weeks! Though in terms of heated screens, I think most display tablets in the top right corner will have the tendency to heat up a little bit, overheating would be bad though!
