Finn is meant to be played in a deck where you give your units experience counters. You trade a +1/+1 for a shield. It forces your opponent to trade into your unit to prevent them from getting a shield or forces them to go to your base. GIving you time to get the shield and trade into their unit and win the arena. Finn's ability says "I will win this arena if the conditions are right." Okay so imagine this because situations like this are VERY common. You play a 2/3 or a 3/3 turn 1 unit. You take initaitve and play Wing leader. The unit is now a 4/5 or 5/5. The enemy unit can't trade into you effectively so they go face. You take away one +1/+1 and give it a shield. Making it either a 3/4 or a 4/4 and trade into the enemy unit. You now have a 3/4 or a 4/4. You could use the argument that well the 4/5 or the 5/5 could have just traded it naturally without needing the shield. And you're absolutely right BUT that would have left the unit at 2 or 3 HP. Making it very easy to remove against future units or removal spells. Having a healthy unit But smaller is better than having a bigger unit but damaged. This play pattern repeats because you build your deck to get experience counters on your units and you dominate the arena that you won. Against an aggro deck you'll usually trade some amount of life in the early game to win the arena but eventually the opponent can never take it back without big cards. Against control the ability is most definitely less good. So you don't use it and just use the 4/6 stats on the leader that is VERY good stats. I would play Finn alone just for the 4/6. That's insanely good stats. Against midrange it's a REALLY good ability because midrange is all about value and winning the board. Finn's ability lets you win the board by having better trades or FORCING your oponent to trade into you before you get a shield and win the trade. It's deceptively good and it's very dependent on how many exp counters we can reliably get on units in an easy way.

Green Finn, Play Maz, Play another unit, turn Maz' exp into shield. Maz is now tough to kill and anytime you try to damage her to take her shield off you can put another on. This also potentially gives a use to Bail Organa. One With The Force is relevant here. Definitely some interesting concepts

Actually, I think he's a counter to bounties. Since bounties say, "When defeated/captured your opponent gets x effect," that implies it's in your control. And friendly is defined as cards in your control.
@88tallynАй бұрын
@@manwithnoname9580 I'm not so sure about that but it would be quite strong if true.
@manwithnoname9580Ай бұрын
@@88tallyn yeah, there is a ruling that suggests otherwise, but maybe it will get clarity or that rule doesn't apply to bounty upgrades or something.

Finn will be great when your opponent plays a Bounty Upgrade on your units...then you can trade those nasty bounties for shields!! BOOM!

So the Finn leader feels like it it was originally intended to be a light side Mandalorian like Duchess Satine Kryze. Lorewise, it would have made sense as it could be said Satine made her people weaker to protect them (ie. lose an upgrade to gain a shield). But also, this ability makes sense for the Mandalorian faction as its trading one upgrade for another, giving flexibility. Use case - equip the Darksaber to Finn making him an 8/9 and when he swings, he gives all Mandos an experience and can immediately convert 1 to a shield (Concord Dawn Interceptors or Protector of the Throne).

Brutal Traditions works pretty good with fifth brother, doesn't buff his attack too much that you can't ready him with GI. A bit more health so you can ready him an extra time and attack with potential raid 5 for 8.

Think unrefusable offer immediately fits into any of the blue yellow decks like boba or thrawn blue. (Will have to see how set 2 leaders like the color combo) but its an amazing late game card. They drop avenger? They drop devastator? They are going to claim you just attach this and then vanquish/new removal. And you get to play a big boy (that also removes something else) then get to attack. Absolutely bonkers.

I have a question for Finn. If you look at the rules, Friendly means something you control, not necessarily a card you played. You could defeat an Entrenched on your unit or a Bounty to give a shield token. If that is the case, it's one of the best leaders in the game. If this is not possible, you could put a bounty on your own unit, make sure it survives then remove it with Finn and give it a shield token. It's not very good but doable.
@chill-u3oАй бұрын
Check out Rule 3.6.5, upgrades played on enemy units are still controlled by the player that played the card. Therefore they would not be friendly for the purposes of Finn’s ability.
@manwithnoname9580Ай бұрын
@cameronhill1188 I think that may change. Because bounties, for example would be very convoluted on rulings at that point. It gives an effect to the unit so maybe that's the workaround? I feel like cards on your side of the board should be considered in control of the player whose board it is with exception to when said card changes control.

Spark of hope is really strong in Chewbacca. You can double ramp on 5 resource turn with this and resupply to deploy Chewbacca 2 turns early. And Max Kanata is also really strong in his deck because you play her turn 1 and take iniative to play sentinels and keep her safe as she grows.
@edwardm9303Ай бұрын
Spark using units from graveyard seems counterproductive to the Home One plan but Ambush + Spark + Leader seems like a strong turn.

With Endless legion it doesn't matter what faction you are. If you are trying to play an avenger, you play it for free. Ignoring the aspect. So just draw it early on and resources it! Then play it for free later on

I'm pretty sure Finn's ability is to remove upgrades that the opponent has played on your units like bounties and entrenched. If they're on your side of the table, they're "friendly".
@DiegoDeschainАй бұрын
Wrong, friendly is stuff you control, and you control stuff that you played. "what side is it on" has nothing to do with what friendly means in the rules.
