AYE-OH-LEE-IN (mode) (diatonic) literally a natural minor scale. All those Weird names are subsets of scales (modifications) which means alternate note groupings that sound good together.

12:30 What I try to do is, adjust the velocities manually first. I emphasize the one's I specifically want and then I randomize that to give them a more human feel. Usually, that prevents having velocities that are too out of place.

The names of the scales come from the places in Anatolia (currently Turkey). All the scales are based on the music that people played in certain areas of Anatolia. For example, the phyrigian scale is from Phyrgia.

they call these types of scales "modes". There are 7 different modes and in the key of C major, every note up the scale is a new mode. C to C is Ionian, D to D is Dorian, etc. Little facts like this change the game but aren't needed to be successful

Fire video(as usual) 🔥🔥🔥 But I wanted to add that you can humanize your melodies even more by pressing Alt+S - This would open Stumizer, where you can change the start and the end of selected notes by a little bit. This gives us an even more human-ish melody since people can't press keys with perfect timings.

@hado33_
@hado33_ Жыл бұрын
@Chris Engle The analogy would make more sense if the doctor had a grid that highlighted where he should cut etc. That's what the scale helper does. It just shows you which notes are in what scales, why memorize it when you can just chose what scale you want and have it right there for you?
@punu3675
@punu3675 Жыл бұрын
@Chris Engle no it’s very tedious and not needed anyway, its a minor thing and it only takes 2 seconds to Look up and it won’t affect your musical skills. Comparing it to being a doctor is very dumb due to the sheer amount of knowledge and precision a doctor needs to have and all you’re doing is working on music, you aren’t trying to improve/ save a human life

You should do a whole video on how to add bass, following the root-notes of the melody, without the bass becoming muddy. If you should stretch, what stretch to use, envelope all of that, and how not to muddy them up.
