i come from a family of metalheads. you bet your ass there will be metal at my wedding. it’s one of the biggest days of your life, why not make it your own?? it’s so strange to shame someone for how they choose to celebrate THEIR day. if your family loves you, they will celebrate regardless.
@Owen21089 ай бұрын
Because it's not really your day. Do you REALLY need a religious man to confirm your love to your partner? Are you Christian and believe that your love should be seen "through gods eyes"? Nah, the whole point of a wedding is to show solidarity with your families coming together and celebrating. So make it for you, and both of your families. Otherwise literally what is the point.
@aylaaboo9 ай бұрын
@@Owen2108weddings are not always religious though, it is more for legalities than anything else. not everyone is asking for gods permission to be together. at the end of the day, those two had families that were present and had a fun time. no one that was there was “disappointed” in them. it’s no one else’s business but there’s. period.
@user-oh3oz1hm7f9 ай бұрын
Because I dont view it as my day at all, marriage is not my construct, and a wedding was not originally conceived of as "Another day to celebrate yourself and put yourself at the center" as all western holidays and special occasins have become, it was more of a communal thing in which case you would not start it and end it with "what do I want, how I do best express myself, how do I make this all about me" and more so try to meet the median... other people. In theory your birthday party is where you'd think more like making it all about yourself, but like I said if youre young and American you might feel like you dont get enough moment to put yourself on the pedestal yet so go ahead
@aylaaboo9 ай бұрын
@@user-oh3oz1hm7f okay but all of that is what YOU view marriage as. the couple featured do not view it that way, neither do i. it is not self centered to have a celebration of your love in whatever way you choose to. opinions from strangers on the internet isn’t going to take away the fact that the couple is happy and their families are happy for them.

I love hearing your opinions and seeing the way your mind works, especially when you're so passionate in your opinions, when I disagree with pretty much everything you said. Like when you said don't be extra weird, you're basically saying don't be yourself, which like 90% of people would say is horrible advice. But it still fascinates me when people have opposing opinions than me

Depends who you are. For some of us, the world will not reward us for being ourselves. This is why autistic people have to put a huge amount of energy into masking. If we don’t, things go badly for us. For NTs, it’s probably less critical.
