everytime i listen to this i love it more. i love the lyrics "a sound is still a sound around no one" its a play on the "if a tree falls in the forest and no ones around, does it make a sound?" but my personal interpretation is that a lot of women are disregarded and seen as invisible but we're strong, intelligent, capable of anything regardless of if other people see it or acknowledge it :)

I love this whole stinkin' album. But this song keeps coming back to me. The whole point of everything, of humanity, of civilization and art and life really doesn't get any simpler or more perfectly expressed than this: I want you to love me. It's why we wake up in the morning and drink coffee instead of blowing our brains out. I want you to love me, and I want to love me, and I want you to love you. Thank you so much for this refreshing album Fiona. You breathed fresh life into a stillborn year.

As an atheist, it's just finding what is so important to you alone. It doesn't matter any other time or to anyone else, that's why you make it yourself. Some people can't handle this and turn to religion for answers, but to quote one of my favorite atheists ever: "If you need a purpose-driven life, you are an actor in someone else's play. You are following a script and it's not even a good one. If your life only has meaning when directed in someone else's movie, you have no life of your own."

While this was the most critically acclaimed album of the year, is by a respected and influential artist who barely releases albums, and it won two out of its three nominations. This album is a masterclass in composition. Wildly original timing. Voices that interlock and divide like a flock of birds. Super off kilter and unorthodox structures that are still somehow elegant. The quarky percussive found-sounds of Tom Waits meeting the surreal melodicism of Radiohead meeting the spontaneity and raw power of Nina Simone, meeting the lyrical precision of Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell, meeting originality all her own. She's 42 and she's actually still getting better. A scary brilliant artist.

I lost a platonic but soulmate like friend may of 2020. I knew him for only 2 months but we grew very close very fast, I had never had a friendship as delicious and understanding of each other. We joked about death and dying alot it was our morbid humor and our aching death wishes from the pains we didnt know how to heal that made our relating so parallel. We shared music and he sent me playlists of the music he had saved of music I turned him on to. Music was a big part of our Sharing and time together. Couple times when he show up he asked me if I had listen to Fiona's new album "heavy balloon reminds me of u".... We listened to cosmonauts and a few tracks. I didn't get to really listen to the album till after he was gone.... First time I heard this song it felt like it is was word for word a gift he wanted me to have.... The bounty of beauty he left trickled along the way for me after he was gone was art. Missing someone who I knew for what felt like just a moment held do much weight.... So much impact, so much depth, the kind you hope for in all potential relationships. I could go on all day about the magic of Patrick Day, and the cool coincidences that came along like meeting him in my favorite Park on St Patrick's Day, when I think about energy I want my life to feel like it's definitely a Patty laugh. I miss my friend but I just remember him and how he would respond to everything. I can shut my eyes and feel his air. I'm so thankful for the little bit I got. I move with the trees and the bees I know that time is elastic. And I know when I go all my particles to dispand and disperse and I be back in the pulse and I know none of this will matter in the long run, but I know a sound is still a sound around no one and while I'm in this body I want somebody to want and I want someone and I want you.....to love me. Loving you from here to there, P. Your friend, Shweila.

I’m so sorry for this but they way u described all this is so beautiful. Just remember that’s he’s still always with you just not physically. I know it may sound hard and it was for sure hard to accept it but, wow. This is such a thoughtful message, and i’m sure he’s proud of you every day. Sending u love and hope you find peace in this song. Don’t let this song make you sad but instead, be happy about it. Feel the rhythm of the song and imagine him being there with you every time you do that. Let yourself feel every single emotion. Love you xx
