I used to work at MTV where this segment was shot when MTV was at the corner of 10th Avenue and West 42 Street in a building that was called National Video and that has been knocked down since before they moved to Times Square. The first time I saw Fiona Apple's CD Tidal was in former MTV VJ Idalis room. She had the CD on her mirror. I wondered who Fiona was. I saw Fiona's video Sleep To Dream video and became a fan. A short time after that she came into my building and was interviewed by my co-worker Matt Pinfield who was really one of the nicest people I've ever met. I remember sitting during off hours when no one was there on those exact boxes where they sat on this interview. I have so many great memories working there meeting people like Barbara Walters, Michael J Fox who was so nice to me, the late Gregory Hines who was so kind to me, John Lithgow, Fat Joe when he visited MTV for the first time ever, Sigourney Weaver, Mathew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Kelly Martin, Al Sharpton, Governor Mario Cuomo who called me son, Afghan Wigs, Malik Yoba, Rosie O'Donnell who got pissed off at me for a couple of things which I didn't mean to do. Of course I knew all the VJs there like comedian Bill Bellamy, Kennedy, Idalis, Matt Pinfield, Simon Rex, John Sencio, Daisy Fuentes, Serena Atschull and many other MTV people. I'll never forget working there. You have to realize people that when Fiona came in, she looked like a little girl. She looked like she was about five feet two inches and slim and she was only 19 years old at that time. She seemed shy but confident at the same time. Her energy seemed very nice. Anyway, I now have a channel on KZfaq where I play all the instrumental parts on piano and synth that serve as background music. Come check it out for those of you that knew me at MTV. From New York City. -- Frank Branden.

@@AvecPoesie You bet. Avec, I also recommend you check out another 1990s star that was tiny just like Fiona that I also met at MTV. But, had huge charisma and a massive hit. Her name is Tracy Bonham and her 1990s hit song is called Mother Mother. I think you will like it.

Growing up watching MTV, Matt Pinfield inspired me to love music. He was just always so genuine.

Matt Pinfield was the best interviewer. He never spoke to any of the artists like they were any different from you or me. He didn't seem fake or phony like tons of interviewers do. On a completely different note, I hope that her rapist was reminded constantly about what he did to her when he had to see her face. That is if he even recognized her.

People have always said this about their own generation, things were better in my day! It’s not true but probably feels that way. Ever thought you might just be getting old? Love Fiona Apple though.

NinjaOutfitInTheWash it’s seems as the younger generations would agree. 90s nostalgia is considered trendy even for those who didn’t necessarily grow up with it themselves.

@theriokid I dont get your comment...if you dont know about her music, or the kind of person she is, you would misinterpret her body language which you have already done. She acts the same way in every interview because she is a laid back, unique, deeply humble person. I can relate because she is alot like me. Her body language is not "sexual" or even meant to be attractive, that is just who she is. How you feel towards her makes you interpret her falsely. Listen to her music before you judge.
@Provemewrongwithfacts13 жыл бұрын
@kjsass1 That's because u know nothing about body language. Notice her arms. They're not only to her side, but they're also back; her legs are spread a bit as well. This means that she's "wide open", "approachable", relaxed. Also, notice her posture. She's not upright, she's leaning back a little. Not vertical, but almost horizontal; also, a sign of approachability. And she's not afraid to look him directly in the eyes, and when she does, he totally loses it. Can't remember the "slaters", etc.
@Malzarin14 жыл бұрын
@dowdrum Lmao, true or not, male rock stars have always been known for their respect of women on the road. I enjoy her laments but that is because they are well written and well performed. Enjoy the music and reserve your personal judgements for something that is relevant or makes sense. Good day

@theriokid I understand & Im not knocking you for your viewpoint. However, let me ask you, how many times does a male misinterpret a females body language simply because he finds her attractive? Only to realize what he's thinking is nowhere near whats going on in her mind? It happens CONSTANTLY. Trust me Im a tomboy thats happened alot to me & its not cool. When a person naturally shows consistent body language & another person who doesn't know them misreads it...it can often be mistaken.

What would that mean? You know like Ray... For instance... ?

That's some serious body language she's got going on there. I don't give a damn about her music. If that girl was sitting in front of me like that, leering at me with those baby blues, I swear we'd be in bed that night. At 1:38 to 1:55, her body language was so suggestive, you could see him losing his composure a bit. That was kinda funny.
