This was previously on the AlternativeRecords channel which seems to have disappeared.
1997-07-29 Majestic Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York
Originally broadcast on a certain music related TV channel.
For some reason this has been letterboxed to fit in a widescreen format but still has better colour rendition than the other lofi copies floating around.

Lyrics: I tell you how I feel but you don't care I say tell me the truth but you don't dare You say love is a hell you cannot bear And I say gimme mine back and then go there for all I care I got my feet on the ground and I don't go to sleep to dream You've got your head in the clouds and you're not at all what you seem This mind, this body and this voice cannot be stifled by your deviant ways So don't forget what I told you, don't come around, I got my own hell to raise I have never been so insulted in all my life I could swallow the seas to wash down all this pride First you run like a fool just to be at my side And now you run like a fool but you just run to hide and I can't abide I got my feet on the ground and I don't go to sleep to dream You've got your head in the clouds and you're not at all what you seem This mind, this body and this voice cannot be stifled by your deviant ways So don't forget what I told you, don't come around, I got my own hell to raise Don't make it a big deal, don't be so sensitive We're not playing a game anymore You don't have to be so defensive Don't you plead me your case, don't bother to explain Don't even show me your face, 'cause it's a crying shame Just go back to the rock from under which you came Take the sorrow you gave and all the stakes you claim And don't forget the blame I got my feet on the ground and I don't go to sleep to dream You've got your head in the clouds and you're not at all what you seem This mind, this body and this voice cannot be stifled by your deviant ways So don't forget what I told you, don't come around, I got my own hell to raise I got my feet on the ground and I don't go to sleep to dream You've got your head in the clouds and you're not at all what you seem This mind, this body and this voice cannot be stifled by your deviant ways So don't forget what I told you, don't come around, I got my own hell to raise

I agree. She was super young when she wrote it too which blows my mind and will make me forever love her.

I remember seeing this in my teens and couldn’t believe the sound I was hearing. This album is sooooo good from the beginning to end.

I was born exactly 2 days before Fiona and never before had I felt like I had such a connection with a musician that felt like they were on the same roller coaster ride as me, the Virgo express - both of us singers and piano players. Her lyrics cut through glass like diamonds and man, did she ever seem to have all the right words for the heartache and heartbreak and lust and love and longing and every bit in between. All I wanted in life for like two decades was for her to sit down next to me on a piano bench and just jam for a few hours. Her first album is a MASTERPIECE. One of the few 10/10 albums to ever be recorded. I think I love her second one even more as it felt like we both had grown musically and I adored what she did with When the Pawn and how she reinvented herself. Another 10/10, but maybe a 10+. Thanks Fiona for all you’ve lived and shared with us. I don’t know where I’d be or where I’d have ended up without you seemingly riding in the same roller coaster car next to me on this wild journey of such a specific era of life brought with it. (You know, the pre-internet, playing outside, arcades and music stores and movie theaters and video rental stores era… moving on to being given the internet and all human knowledge that would come to be in the palms of our hands).

Amazing sentiments and I know a lot of us feel the same way. What are your thoughts on the idler wheel and extraordinary machine? All her five albums have been close to perfection for me.

Were any of us ever that young?🙀 She popped out of the womb so fully formed and bursting with unique talent. THE BEST👑 And props to Jon Brion💗

Listening to her live, the way she puts comedic emphasis on things like at 1:46 "you don't have to be so defensive," really brings her words to life in ways the studio album just doesn't do, not that it isn't good, but her live performances are really nuanced and great

I can only imagine she had serious relationships at a very young age. Which I don’t know what to think about that or maybe she had mature serious feelings at a young age. Either way she doesn’t write or speak from the average pov of a 15-17 yr old girl when you break down her lyrics from this album. So you underrated

If there's a way to bring it back, I always loved the live performance of T.YM.P.S. from Jimmy Kimmel, can't find it anywhere.

That unplugged synth was annoying. The plugged-in acoustic bass was a nice touch. Tough to do a Brion arrangement of Fiona's music differently.
