Fire Alarm Testing | UIUC Fred Turner Student Services Remodel

Күн бұрынFor our recent fire alarm design at UIUC Fred Turner Student Services Building, our lead engineer, Kent Locke, was on-site for the testing of the system. During horn testing, Kent checks for proper installation, recorded sound levels of the audio devices to make sure they are 20 dB higher than ambient, synchronization of all the visual devices, and more.
The fire alarm test video documented problems and allowed the Bailey Edward team to work with our contractors to remedy all issues to keep the building and its occupants safe. It also identified that the existing devices were operating correctly, thus avoiding the installation of new devices. The video shows that the visual devices are NOT synchronized, which will be rectified as a part of this project.

Reminds me so much of my apartments old system that they retired in 2019. We had 7002-24s on an est irc-3. We now have all genesis on an est 3

For Wheelock 7001t series, those are old devices, most likely on the ‘80s. Synchronization started on the ‘90s. Therefore, to have a synchronized devices/system, those existing devices shall be replaced with at least devices like the Wheelock Series Exceder Horn Strobes (HSR).

And strobe synchronization in areas with more than one visible devices is an NFPA 72 and ADA requirement to prevent possible seizure on epileptic patients.

@@BaileyEdwardArchsometimes fire alarm systems are grandfathered into. so they can be not synchronized and up to code because the building is built before the synchronization requirements in the 90s.

Gary Beltz They were part of the 7001T series which they made a ceiling mount version for

I love how 7001ts 7002s 7002ts and i believe 7000 21 -24s all have their own pulses

Me too...that's because these older xenon strobes were all different; just like no snowflake is alike, no early non-ADA strobe is either. It's too bad they all have to flash once per second now; I always took a liking to these older systems; but my sister has epilepsy so I can see why they are all the same now because that would cause a lot of medical issues. :(

I know, I was just saying that the 7000-series has no flash adjustment; it is just all random flash rate wise.

Many of those halways didnt have a strobe in sight, no more strobes were needed? Also, why did that office have two strobes?
