The cover is so people are aware that your causing false alarms, you need to pull the fire alarm. If the cover “notified the whole building” then the fire alarm wouldn’t be there, so the key IS to pull the fire alarm

This is not right. After you pull the sti stopper ALWAYS pull the fire alarm. The alarm of the sti stopper is just to alert that it’s been lifted. It’s not going to alert the entire building.

My elementary school had that exact pull station and if you pulled the cover it made a sound. (I know because one time a kid pulled the fire alarm)

A couple months ago I was bouncing a small tiny ball on the floor straight up to me but then when it was coming up it was spinning super fast so when it hit the ground, it went flying forward and it hit that cover which sounded the false alarm which scared everyone around it but I didn’t get in trouble because it was deemed “an accident”

My school has stoppers like that but only in the wood/metal shop

The plastic cover AKA the STI stopper is used to prevent false alarms and pull station damage. In order to activate the FACP and alert the whole building you need to pull the pull station. - a fire alarm technician

Those things are not allowed under my AHJ. Incase of a real fire, Stupid people will lift that cover and think they pulled the fire alarm when they really didnt.

So actually, the key is too lift the cover up in case of emergency only and lift up the cover on the fire alarm and then pull down the lower lever

For those wondering: the cover makes an alarm Incase of a small fire that can be put out, the small alarm will alert all nearby people, causing a saving situation. HOWEVER, if the fire is very big, and already beyond control, that’s when the building must be evacuated.

This cover is confusing to some people because some people will just pull the cover and when the siren activates they thought they pulled the alarm not knowing that they needed to pull the actual pull station.

I do trust you also know that there is more to lifting the cover. You also need to place your thumb on the plate that says, “break glass press here”. Do that and the entire building will be on alert.

That is NOT your fire alarm. That is a manual pull station, which is part of your fire alarm SYSTEM. You don't point at your headlight and say "this is my car".

Doesn’t always work. One guy did that here in Australia. Lifted the cover, the siren sounded, but he ignored it and snapped the plate in half activating the fire alarm.

Oh heck no bro so basically let me tell you a story one day I was in school and I was in physical education and we were playing a game called California kickball basically kickball but indoor w/ bases and stuff, and I punted the ball in the fire alarm by accident and it was the same one and that thing started blaring across the entire gym and i surprisingly didnt get in trouble for it so i guess i got lucky
