hmm this was presumably done to promote FE:Mystery of the Emblem on the SFC, an english dub of this OVA would assume that Nintendo of America wanted to sell FE in the west before the advent of SSBM. lack of interest in this from Western Audiences, or maybe the forthcoming N64 console put a dampener on things?

Ben John Here's a nice reminder for a fe noob like you or a fe player who doesn't know about the 1st 3 games of FE: FE1, FE2 and FE3 didn't have the weapon triangle until genealogy of the holy war (FE4).

Honestly I’m not sure I’m ever gonna forget the scene where Navarre has a nightmare. We’ve known this dude to be the edgiest edgelord to ever edge, a guy who insists on no emotions, and he’s panicking because of nightmare (most likely some sort of trauma that resulted in his pushing people away and possibly his vow to not hurt women considering the person in the dream he was reaching towards that was killed was a woman).

For whatever reason in this series, Caeda's hair is light blue at day and dark blue during the night. Doesn't make sense to me either, in the day she looks more like Eirika.

I think it's dark blue at night since there's not much light shining on her hair, I think everyone else seemed to have darker color palettes at night, too.

Truly a shame they ended the show here. In all honesty, this is probably the best TV show adaptation of a video game that I’ve seen so far. Maybe someday in the future, we’ll get a new Fire Emblem anime. It may be a bit far fetched, but a fan can dream, right?

I can't believe it's been 25 years since this came out. I remember being 12 years old in 1996 watching this anime and of course playing the old FE games with my brother. We both always said damn it sucks it got cancelled after just two episodes. My brother still has the VHS of these haha. 1996 anime animation was great. Navarre is the best in this episode......"I changed my mind again" 😊 It would be cool if this got a reboot and it was finished to completion

I was born in 1984 as well. I picked up my first Fire Emblem game two years ago. I played Echos, Fates:Birthright and Awakening. I also remember these types of cartoons from that time. This particular one was something I missed. I recall there were certain cartoons like Double Dragon which would come on TV around 4 AM I almost never got to watch because of the early time they were on.

I also watched Captain N and the video game master's, bucky o hare, Mega Man, Mario bros, GI Joe, Zelda, ninja turtles, Garfield, little bits, rainbow bright, etc etc....I could be here all day listing those great late 80s and early to mid 90s cartoons.

There's a manga about Shadow Dragon which features Navarre's past, to some extent. Unfortunately, it only exists in Japanese, but some fans have translated it, though unofficially.

As long as they based it on the DS remakes instead of 3, since 3 didn't have Wrys, Darros, Jake, Beck, or Roger. Everything based on 3 always seems to never reference Castor either for some reason.

I hope for a full fire emblem series Unlike its source material where the games takes place in the past, the show takes place in the future and none of any of the main characters is not the lead protagonist instead their descendants This series takes place in the far future and centers on a group of eccentric warriors (who are descendants of various characters) while defending the city of Neo medival city from the menace of Brigands, Barbarians, Thieves, and occasionally Mercenaries and monsters. This series is produced by Upstairs animation(the same studio who did Koati and if you don't know what Koati is look it up)

I'm kinda curious what this would sound like with the modern voice actors for these characters. (Yuri Lowenthal for Marth, Cherami Leigh for Caeda, Max Mittleman for Gordin, Patrick Seitz for Draug. etc.) No offense to the voices actors in this, alot of them were part of the Dub cast for Neon Genesis Evangelion, an anime dub that is widely regarded as one of the better english dubs before the spike in popularity of anime in the west.

Voice direction matters a lot. Replacing the actors without fixing the direction would just have a different set of voices saying silly-sounding things.

@@magmasajerk Good point. I think a testament to what you said is that a good majority if not all of the voice actors also had a role in Neon Genesis Evangelion, it's regarded as one of the best English Dubs from the 90's and is still held in high esteem even nearly 30 years later.

The animation and artstyle are solid. The grit and detail are a much better fit for Fire Emblem than the overly-cutesy moe games like Awakening, Fates and Engage. It's a shame we didn't get a full anime covering Marth's games, because this has got the makings of a great adaptation. As for the dub, some of the acting is good, it's just a shame they felt the need to do random accents and completely ruin the show's consistency and immersion. I know Marth was inspired by the Roman wargod Mars, but it's really grading to hear these incorrect translations of characters' used all throughout. Like assuming Navarre was Engrish for Navalle... Which it ISN'T..
