People’s opinion on three houses can be pretty divided but personally I loved it to death and made sure to recruit every character in each play through (with a lot of grinding-)

@@cheesecheese6459 for the most part grinding isn’t needed to recruit everyone, just buying the cheap gifts every month once they become available to get B supports with everyone you can an recruit is easy enough (they will randomly join you during the week once you have B support). Just need to buy the cheaper gifts every month once you can start purchasing them. If anyone’s playing for the 1st time though I wouldn’t worry much about recruiting them all because while there are some minor benefits you’d make only use 10-12 characters anyway so most of them would just sit on the bench. Just grab who you want to and leave the rest until you need to minmax in maddening to grab certain items. Of course if you want to grab everyone to just get them all to each their own.

@@cheesecheese6459 For what Three Houses had, I loved it. It’s my second most played game on switch (350+ hours) second only to Smash Ultimate (500+ hours) but really this difference is mostly because Ultimate was my first Switch game and I got 3Houses a good year after I got the Switch.

I thought Fire Emblem 3 Hopes was supposed to be a strategy game. I played a bit of the demo and it looks like a hack & slash game similar to the Dynasty Warriors games.

​@@Oridginale24 Yeah cause it is a Dynasty Warriors game. Just like the previous Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors. In this case it's more similar to Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, where the game actually expands on the previous game's lore.

@@Oridginale24 Not sure if you are trolling or not… FE:3 houses is a Strategy RPG, FE Warriors 3 hopes is a Musou game like the Dynasty Warrior games. Also made by the people who made the DW games. All “Warrior” games are musou spinoff games from their original Games. Persona Strikers plays after Persona 5, 3 Hopes supposedly after 3 Houses and Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity “before” Zelda Breath of the wilds. All other “Warrior” games are not really strongly connected to the source material, just borrowing characters, gameplay bits and part of the aesthetics.

Also, little nitpick, he mentioned the crit cut ins are persona esque, uhhhhh, no? In three houses, when you get a crit, it did pretty much the same style cut in, and even on the 3ds games, it did that as well, it's not just persona

Idk about that, he’s mostly a story first kinda guy. It’s the main reason he didn’t care overly much for 3H since he only played one route (rather than getting the full story). But even with only one route without all the answers, it’s still easily the best written Fire Emblem game by a wide margin. The only one that was fairly high but not on he same level would be Path of Radiance, with the 2D games being even less good

Heh Basically when you capture a stronghold, you use shadow slide and one of the 4 playable characters can instantly teleport to that stronghold. Very useful for when enemies show up trying to get to a retreat location.

I'll only agree if it's pretty well implemented story-wise. I can do with or without child units but if they're there I'd like a good reason. Genealogy literally had you pass the torch to the next generation, Awakening had the children go back in time to save their parents... and Fates had.... pocket dimensions where time flowed faster and really had no reason to drag their own kids into the battle.

@@AsianMoriarty exactly this, I hated the child system in Fates because it felt like IS just added it cause it was in Awakening. Also I usually don't use many child units in my playthroughs outside of Genealogy so I'm not losing sleep over it's omission

It's pretty incredible how good Persona 5 Strikers is. Fire Emblem Three Hopes is incredibly good, but even it isn't quite on the level of Strikers and I'm a much bigger Fire Emblem fan!

Agreed, tho this game is certainly one of the best by far. I hate most of these types of games and find them kinda mindless usually, but the character building and strategy of sending certain units at certain times adds another layer to it. Not to mention there’s actual combo potential now, so it’s not nearly as boring even for people like me

Give a higher difficulty a chance if it is feeling mindless. Strikers and Three Hopes don't just make enemies damage sponges it makes them more aggressive and more likely to attack your allies instead of just stand around. The AI is just better.

@@DavidHosey1 It absolutely isn't one of the best, this is the most mindless by far and this is from someone who enjoys these game. Use a low durability art or one of the cheese arts and just win. It is so bad for most of the game you can just be Shez. The AI if all set to focus on one point will become a snowball of 7 characters. If you manage 3 other characters well enough you can use high durability arts and just rotate them out. It is an actual joke.

@@DavidHosey1 The story is pretty flawed, Arval's connection to the Slither people is basically unexplored which is bad writing but also the fact in Blue and Scarlet routes the story ends early. Dimitri just leaves Edelgard who has been mind controlled in the wreckage of the church. The fact the second half of the war is skipped out on by Shez. Arval being super buddy buddy but then fully deciding to murder Byleth... only for Arval to die. The story change is non-existent. You get 2 bonus fights and the story continues otherwise exactly as normal. Not really a major impact on the story despite what the game tries to convince you especially since Shez keeps their class. This game is objectively flawed in story. I've never seen a game have a slow narration of what everyone is doing then proceed to have a cutscene where everyone explains what they are doing. Then you play through a chapter and at the end it explains what you just did before repeating the cycle.

None of the routes end early whatsoever, and leaving some things unresolved but mostly finished does not make for s bad story (Three Houses did it too, and so do other greats like Tolkien, Red Dead, Yakuza, Nier, Witcher, etc.). Dimitri literally doesn’t leave Edelgard there and instead goes to her, which I feel you not knowing could alone show invalidity with your arguments, and the war is seen extensively by Shez, because again, having something where you can tell which side will win objectively not being shown in every detail doesn’t make for bad writing. If a story had to show you literally everything that were ever important, then it would have atrocious pacing and be condescendingly pandering to the audience Arval is never “buddy buddy” with Byleth or Sothis, and extremely protests against working with them many times, only begrudgingly going along with Shez’s choice in order to get closer to them and kill them. The story change is non-existent because their intention is obvious to anyone paying attention lol. You deciding to or not to kill Jeralt and Shez literally results in other major characters of the various routes dying, extensive worldbuilding and lore, fun new missions, and entirely new scenes appearing for the ending, not to mention the highly interesting lore/story implications of what would happen beyond the ending. You would only need to play Azure Gleam to know this in some of the most obvious ways, which I’m almost certain you haven’t given your arguments. Idk how gameplay things inform of the story in a warriors game either, as all of them are meant to have exaggerated beyond the actual canonical events gameplay, but ok Three Houses is objectively top tier fantasy writing when looked at as a whole, and Three Hopes builds off of this quality and extends it. Just like Three Houses, this game is rather obviously flawed in terms of gameplay and presentation, but objectively top tier when it comes to writing, standing up there with greats of any medium of fantasy for the right story alone If you’re referring to the Jeralt chapter narration, pre-battle dialogue, and cutscenes after, then that’s just funny. The Jeralt stuff takes 30 seconds from an unbiased narrator, the pre-battle stuff has exponentially more to say than just the same and gives great insight into the characters, and the cutscenes after barely even touch on things in anywhere close to the same way. If you’re trying to tell me 30 seconds of war summary before retaking Fhirdiad, the emotional desperate planning of the Lions beforehand, and Dimitri debating the worth of resisting when it endangers others while also focusing on what truly happened in Duscur, is all the same stuff, then that’s really telling as to why you think the other things that you do concerning the story I very much hope that my answers helped you understand things more, and if you have any other confusions with the story I’d be glad to clear them up for you. Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy this top tier fantasy more and more the deeper you look into it :)
