Wow, great information. It might be a boring job to some, but I think I would enjoy doing that all day long. By the way, I am an engineer and technical writer. With your uncanny ability to articulate precisely the method by which an individual would use to inspect, dismantle, hydrostatically test and prepare a cylinder for a recharge is impressive to say the least. Perhaps you and I should partner to create the most detailed, descriptive, comprehensive and fully illustrated Kama Sutra instruction manual and relationship guide. Maybe we can get Gilbert Godfrey to do the voiceover. Like if you could imagine him being the narrator of the infamous 50 shades of gray bestseller audio book. LOL. But seriously, great work on the vid. I learned a lot actually.

Good job in demonstrating. However, I'm an old school fire extinguisher tech licensed in the state of Texas. My license allows me to do a hydro test on most extinguishers. What I have become accustomed to is replacing all o-rings as well as valve stems. There are o-rings on your valve stems that Texas requires that all o-rings and valve stems be replaced. They to can also become brittle and crack and they also compress in the valve head that may cause leaks and are not usable during any use the fire extinguisher may be needed for. So best bet is to replace any o-rings and valve stems. I rebuilt and certified thousands of fire extinguishers in my 15 year career. 🤗

It is matter of company practice if that is done, however, what does the service manual say? My company ALWAYS replaces o-rings & valves and we use only OEM parts. Not like your typical OR27 oring for Badger, Amerex, etc.

Hey Don. Thanks for the video. I am currently working on my FE / FK licenses. I'm trying to figure out what equipment I will need once I have my certifications. Would you be willing to help me out? I'm a hood cleaner in South Carolina and it just makes sense to also do fire suppression inspections.

What certification do you need to do 6 year and hydro testing? I've done inspections for years. And I have nicet level 1&2 alarm technician and level 1 inspector.
@PrimoQuestMarketing4 жыл бұрын
It might depend on your jurisdiction, but in the State of Texas, NICET certification has nothing to do with it. You need to have a fire extinguisher technician's licence.

What does a test cost? seems like there would be millions of these out there.. good grief that is a lot of work for a device that most likely is never used... but when you need one it's good to know it works

At long last the only way how a fire extinguisher should ever be serviced Me being a service manager has came across multiple extinguisers where the “fly by nights” has serviced an extinguiser and when inspected i refuse to give back the extinguiser to the client as the fire extinguisher has more wrong with it than right

Good job but wrong about one thing. ALWAYS replace the valve stem. The orings on the valve stem actually wears out and it flattens out in 6 years which you should change every 6 years. I can't tell you how many times I've serviced a fire extinguisher that the valve stem wasn't changed out within a year's time from last service date because you cleaned it instead of changing it. But for the most part it was a decent video. When doubt have a professional check it out.

Really?! So slap a sticker on and say you serviced it? No then you can be tried as a murderer if a person dies of a malfunctioning of a fire extinguisher and it is profen that you serviced it

Not looking at an extinguisher at this time, but I believe it might also be written on the bottle. We typically don't do Hydro's because they are too labor intensive and simple replace them with new instead.
@PrimoQuestMarketing4 жыл бұрын
@Muhammad Moiz, 6 years is for the 6-year maintenance, 12 years is for the hydro-static testing. This goes by the manufacturing date on the bottle.
@markyoung1811 Жыл бұрын
You said you brake it lose because Factory tired it. If that is a 12 year old Fire Extinguisher it should have had a 6year maintenance done on it 6 years ago. So that should be hand tired on

Grasp the rigid and smooth bonnet of my massive cylinder and re-seat my head. Slip a gasket on the mouth and insert the stem all the way to the base fitting the head to the cylinder by gently guiding the nipple of the top assembly that protrudes from the throat. Make sure that you discharge and dry it thoroughly with nitrogen before you deliver your contents deep inside. LOL. It reminds me when I was a graphic designer and we would speak of hiring a stripper that also had the skills for colour separating images using techniques like trapping, spreading and choking. Very suggestive vernacular.
