This song has been a regular Friday morning radio song for decades. Often stations would mix in movie and cartoon sound bites to customize this song. Like they would drop a Fred Flintstone Yabba Dabba Doo in there and movie quotes about hating work. Its an awesome song.

@sixstanger002 жыл бұрын
My local radio station would usually play it at 5 PM on Fridays, but would mix in sound bites. At the top of the hour, the DJ would say, "It's 5 o'clock, and guess what day it is?" Then, a sound bite of several people saying "It's FRIIIDDDAYYY!!!" would kick off the song playing.

I'm another one who would fall into that "Georgia" category that Beth commented on in this reply thread! Although I'm originally from, & am back in the Piedment of NC now, I went to college in Columbus, GA. in the mid '80s. I haven't thought of these call letters in a long time, but yes Beth, both major Columbus radio stations, 102.9 KISS FM & 107.3 WCGQ, played this along with a Mashup of several other songs & movie/TV/cartoon clips including Weekend by Wet Willie & Shout by Otis Day and the Kinghts every Friday at 17:00. The memories this brings back!

Loverboy was one of my favorite bands of the 80's. I really miss the 80"s... A lot of the music back in the day just had this feel good quality. I miss that sense of joy, the "let's just have some fun" quality of the music in the 80's. I also miss the real talent that the performers had. Now, with auto tune and studio musicians, you can have zero talent and still have a band or be a music star. It's crap. Which is why people are blown away by real talent. They're not used to seeing it.

I saw a reunion show LB did a while back, and on stage he paused and made a big production of putting on a headband before striking a pose. Must have been reading the room right, because everyone was laughing so hard they had to play an opening bridge to give people time to calm down enough to hear the song. Awesome energy.

My wife and I are remodeling our kitchen and we decided to dig out our old records, for you young pups we had those on vinyl. We broke out the album Get Lucky and this was one of the best and most recognized Loverboy songs.

Speaking of getting back to a band with a LOT to offer, EXTREME! Anything but "More than words" that you have already done!

Loverboy was touring with Billy Squier and played in Denver, a friend of mine was a HUGE fan of Loverboy.Anyway, Phil and his mom were shopping in downtown Denver and happened to meet Mike Reno. Phil low-key fanboyed and Mike Reno took him and his Mom to lunch just to shoot the breeze. Mike asked Phil if he were coming to the concert and Phil told him that he really couldn't afford it. So Mike gave him 5 tickets and backstage passes! Phil asked me if I wanted to go, and my parents wouldn't let me go. I was a junior in high school...My parents were NOT cool!!

FYI- Saw Loverboy in August of 2022. Lead singer, Mike Reno, still sounds as great today. Did you hear that cowbell that started the song. Other great tunes from them: Hot Girls in Love and Lovin Every Minute of It. Thank you for doing Turn Me Loose. That was a great debut to introduce you to them.

Mike Reno, lead singer of Loverboy did a duet with Nancy Wilson, lead singer of Heart. Excellent song. Almost Paradise. It's on the Footloose soundtrack.

My senior year of high school, 1983-84, the popular radio station played this song every Friday at 5pm! It was awesome! Great memories!
