nice, well done. fire plow has got to be the damned hardest method out there. I was never able to pull it off.

Thanks man! It is the hardest friction fire method but also the most rewarding! It took me 3 weeks of practicing everyday before i got my first fire plow ember on a red cedar plank! Keep trying man and I think you will get it, if you have any questions let me know.

the problem in this video is he did not think ahead and collect tinder bundle, the grove board was to big to pick up for ember transfer to tinder bundle and of course more tinder and wood for fire building

I tried this and always failed!
@swenetteee6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I failed for 3 weeks straight before I got my first coal, it's not easy, that's for sure
@palindrome066 жыл бұрын
3 weeks? :O What's the trick then? Is it the way you cut the groove? Or the type of wood maybe?
@swenetteee6 жыл бұрын
Use dead dry standing wood that is least dense in your area, the plow and board should be from the same tree, cut a long tapering end on the plow( thin but not too thin ), assume a kneeling position, use the sum of your upper body at first to gather the dust and once you have built up a Enough heat and smoke start to give a little more pressure and speed at this point you can start to use your arms more. Hope this helps😀

I've tried this for non-stop 2 hour today with a really dry yucca plow and board.. Getting smoke everytime but no ember. The dust accumulates around the groove, I can't seem to collect it at one point.. Don't know what the problem is.. Maybe the plow tip too thin (2mm).

Yeah? I doubt it, this is the hardest friction fire out there. But if you really did get it then congrats

I got it on my second try with agave. Posture and pace is key or you will burn out your arms
