Really wish everyone didn't abandon this game when World came out. I liked downloading an edit pack save file more than having to download each creation one by one and organize them myself. With FPR we can just down a save file where all the created wrestlers are there and already sorted by Promotion/Era without having to waste time at it yourself. Even includes Rings, logos, and referees too. It's a lot faster to just into playing or simming. I hope someone releases a AEW or modern WWE pack for FPR sometime.

Returns is such a cool version of FPW - still great even today. This game series is so addictive. I’ve started playing Fire Pro World and Fire Pro Wrestling D on my phone (posted a few vids) to get my fix. Amazing you can play such a classic game on your phone now.

I just picked this up complete in box unopened with the Saran wrap still on it, so I kept that one and picked up another one that was just the disc so I could play it on my PS2. I tried a game or two but didn't have a memory card yet so I was pretty unimpressed and shut it off but I got my memory card in the mail today so I want to start my own federation, I'm hoping it's as fun as everyone says.

Great review man, I'm not much into American wrestling as a sport but I enjoy the games, I always heard about this one and you gave me the perfect introduction, clear, concise, straight to the point, and stating your opinions. The half hour seemed like minutes. I'll definitely give Fire Pro Wresling a try.

I’m playing all the wrestling games from my childhood and the ones I missed out on. The first I ever played was just bring it on the ps2! so I know I missed some bangers. So far I have WCW/nwo revenge, no mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 on the 64 and all are pretty awesome. Current have smackdown 1 , Smackdown 2 kyr , ECW Hardcore revolution and this game on the way. Wasn’t ever interested in this game because of the graphics but now I’m really glad I bought it on a whim cause this looks awesome

Great review. I’ve played this game but really prefer Fire Pro World. The large variety of wrestlers I just have to download along with logos and create a move. However, for the time this game is a classic. When it first came out I saw the box and passed, boy was I dumb! 😂 Fire Pro is King

striking a matter of screwing around with all the different strike types... angles and distances. do an hour of sparring every day and you'll get the hang of striking.

Actually, the WCW/WWF series has five NTSB-U entries. The first one is called WCW Vs. The World and it was made for the PS1 and it is also a good wrestling game that plays very similarly to its N64 counterparts. One could also make an argument that it is also one of the best PS1 games as well.

Whether it's New Japan or All Japan or the WWF,ECW...Fire Pro Returns came up with the right figure for me to make a decision...i recently picked up this gem for 10 bucks lol no instruction booklet though

The game honestly deserves a 7 out of 10, and for many valid reasons, again, which would take dozens of posts to explain away.

One thing that makes me the most pissed about the Editing Mode is that literally no one at Spike-Chunsoft thought that it would be a good idea to include a Mario Paint-styled Character Stamp for making your own ring logos, or, hell, even take a page out of MS Paint and simply allow Zoom, Grid, and Picture-In-Picture options for making ring logos, and, for that matter, designs on clothing, or even whole outfits, as well as turnbuckles, turnbuckle posts, ring aprons, barricades, and wrestling mats, among other things in the game. No, the dumb asses thought that just letting people derp around and guess at this fucking bullshit instead of building it in an actually intuitive, approachable, and easy style, you know, like the whole fucking audience that you are ironically catering to with the game, was actually how that this shit was supposed to be done in the game. Even Japanese people get pissed at this fucking bullshit in the game...let that sink in for a moment.

The thing that honestly pisses me off about the Irish Whips in the game is that not only can you not directly use an Irish whip to an opponent to the turnbuckle post that is above yourself, but also to the one that is directly above your opponent, or, equally accurately, below yourself...like would it honestly kill Spike-Chunsoft to actually add some more frames, as well as some more computer coded commands, to actually make those things happen in a Fire Pro Wrestling game?

I honestly think that the PS1 SmackDown and the PS1/N64 WCW/WWF/Virtual Pro Wrestling games did the Facial/Hair Editing layers the best out of any video game. Fire Pro Wrestling Returns obviously thought that making beards and such be on default faces was a good idea, but at least Fire Pro Wrestling World does that a bit less...I think. Seriously, doing that to wrestlers in Fire Pro Wrestling Returns ironically hurts, rather than helps, on the complete customization part of a wrestler in the game. Also, the women look more like men in this game, but at least Fire Pro Wrestling World, as well as other Fire Pro Wrestling games, did not have that problem in those games. My point is this, faces, facial hair, tattoos, masks, and such all need to be permanently separate things that people can just cobble together rather than force a player to have those things on a default wrestler.
