And what he doesnt tell you is its one of 6 stations in a city of 80,000 people thats all volunteers. They have about 12 staff members that work 8 to 4 and dont do Als. Dont know if they still allow it but used to have beer machines. They are basically club houses full of food to get volunteers to hang out at.

The fire pole is mostly a thing of the past now, most stations just use stairs these days. A fire pole can be a huge safety risk. Some stations still use them though.

Don't avoid the issue - his weight is a problem both for departmental public relations and the safety of other members. This fire department's leadership obviously does not think his obesity is an issue.
