Nice to see the police being upfront and customer oriented. Still sucks you need a permission slip to exercise a right (protected under the English bill of rights from the 1600's) but we will get past that for now.

This happened just days before the results of the inquest into the shootings at Plymouth... And now to my knowledge they think we should scrap the shotgun certificate everything is then section 1 and the certificate should be more expensive.... And yes Scotland being one entire force has its benefits but not if it will mean that we also need to license air rifles (which they do, i'm not even joking) so that the moment it happens they are overburdened again with useless paperwork for that instead of making sure the people with actual (you know hat i mean) guns are the right people to have them and are safe to do so. This meeting of the licencing teams, and the shooting public, was great. If they make the proposed changes above instead of dealing with the police not fully doing their job in terms of making sure that criminals and historically violent people get their licences back after they are violent again. Will just ruin everything created here. I'd love to see these things happen at shows more and more. Remove this barrier between the two that means that we just see them as the people with the big red "NO" Stamp that comes after you part with your money and 6 months of your life. And the police don't actually get to meet the people to see that we aren't actually all Rambo waiting for any opportunity to get passed them or be violent people. I do truly hope the police take reasonability for dropping the ball in regards to Plymouth so things can improve on their end, become more professional, ensure that firearms officers in this area are actually trained and know what they are talking about and allowing or disallowing when a shooter gives valid reason for wanting another firearm, or suppressor etc etc. And we can move onwards and improve relations like was achieved here. Well played to the licencing teams for turning up, and well played to all shooters that turned up to show them it was worth their time and they should do it again.

Still wish Devon & Cornwall Police would let people know how long it will take to deal with a new shotgun license application, my partner applied in September 2021 and she hasn’t heard anything since.
