Wow this is way more than my training. I was in a blacked out room full of smoke. Had to crawl in a smoke filled room and locate victim. Drag out dumby while keeping c spine, cannot stand, while co is cursing, yelling and pushing me over. When i came out he asked was that fun and i said i wanted to kick his ass. He laughed so hard. Good times

Thanks for this!! I’m currently going through 16/64 class and I’m having so much trouble with this very thing. I did not know I was claustrophobic until I tried to do a maze

I had the same issue in my academy - it was very similar to this video and id never had an issue with claustrophobia until this. The BEST advice I can give is, when you start to get anxiety - SLOW. DOWN. You'd be shocked how big a part your breathing is. Also: if you're squeezing through a particularly tight spot, take a big(controlled),deep breath and then make your move on the exhale. Whatever you do, DON'T panic. Better to take 5-10 seconds to center yourself than blow through 800 psi panting

This looks much harder than ours. I’ll be doing I tomorrow for the first time in full turnouts. Those wires would have been hell, great job

As Bomb Squad Commander foe my police department, I had our techs go through this training at our city’s fire department training center. Although we all completed the training, it definitely was NOT something I enjoyed. And I was the one who set the damn trading up. About 5 minutes into the exercise, I was thinking: WTF did I get myself into! Much respect for our firefighters who do this!

You just focus on making the next move. Remind yourself that the situation depends on you, and that you have to stay calm and keep focused. One step at a time.

I might be getting a little cocky here and I might regret saying this when im in academy but... Man if you can get up on your hands and knees, its not very tight of a space. Not saying this is a cakewalk but I highly doubt ill get claustrophobic in there.

Not always. But your way of thinking of “figure it out 110% of the time” is what’s killed firefighters for over 12 recorded decades. But yeah. It works wayyyy better.

@@dallasdempsey7097 No kidding...150 years of tradition unimpeded by progress. There is no reason to just dump someone into a confidence course like this without building up skills first.
