Sometimes the fire company is 30 minutes away… or there is no cell service and you are on your own…. This is great info.

always have a plan B and C. you never know when something will go wrong. like a rescue tool failing on scene. in my area as VFF/EMT the next closet extrication tool and/or pump might be 30 min out. with maintenance and tool checks, Mr. Murphy will still strike.

I mean hydraulics would be my go to but why not consider hand tools if hydraulics aren't available?

If hydraulic tools aren't available how are you going to remove the door from the latch side anyway? I will also not be carrying around a ratchet set in my pocket so if I have to go to the truck to get wrenches I'm going to grab the tools, and just take the whole side of that car.

+Kyle Lawrence here's a scenario. I'm an engine company arriving on a mva, upon arrival we make the decision we need to extricate for whatever reason that is. We dont have hydraulics on our truck, so while we wait for the Rescue, we start patient care and take the bolts. At this point we've started paitent care, created a purchase point for the Rescue, lessened the workload for the Rescue, and sped up the extrication process. Just brainstorming.

take roof with sawzall. If you are concerned enough to take the door why manipulate C spine twisting them out of the door. You can take the roof with One sawzall in 6 minutes.

Awesome ideas ! But like I tell everyone at extrication training. This is perfect world because the car isn’t crumpled. Most of the time you won’t be able to afford the time to do this. I could care less about the car it’s all about the patient, when your ratchet doesn’t work then you have to waste time and go get the right tools off the truck so just bring them and use them.

A far easier way of opening up the shut line on the front of the door is to use your spreader to crush the front wing of the car which opens up the gap quickly to expose the hinges. Hope this is helpful.

an interesting technique in broad daylight on flat concrete with an undamaged car. if that whole side of the car had major intrusion I highly doubt this would be effective.

you are right. But my point is why are you wasting time. If the are is on its wheels Take the damn roof ONLY and take out on backboard with perfect C-spine care.

GREAT WAY TO GET A DOOR OFF, IF IT WERE 1900
@woody4u247 Жыл бұрын
If I was trapped, I would Not want this slow process... who's gonna dig for the right socket size & fart around... easier to drop a power spreader in from.the top by the mirror & expand the top of the door & pop the upper hinge I. One movement away from.the victim... then the door bends out & down exposing the lower hinge.... Boom boom & the door is off.....

Really? Sorry guys, that door movement and glass shows how far you missed the point of modern extraction but hey, thanks for showing how NOT to do it.
