The plot is all explained at 34:10. The Keepers were being rotated in and out of stasis which causes memory loss if it goes on too long, so each time they awaken they lose their memories and are retrained. They were taught to maintain the ship's systems with a false narrative and indoctrination telling them the world they knew was all that existed and their job is to maintain things. The "Arrivers" were members of the crew (who knew what was actually going on) that had to interact with the Keepers near the end of the journey to upgrade the ship's systems as new technology was developed over the centuries that the ship has been flying and to prepare the ship for arrival at its destination.

I assume the "arriver" that Marta killed was most likely the captain since Turner is identified as an ensign, which would make Turner the new field promoted captain (or the highest ranked remaining command crew) since the former captain would have "expired unexpectedly". This would explain why Turner was needed to start the process.

aww, i was hoping for a destination ending and some more answers. Little cube bot promised answers in 7.5 hours when the journey was completed. I love Cyan worlds games, but this one feels incomplete, like there is some missing part at the end. feels a little bit out of character for a Cyan game.

I just finished this game today too, and was wondering also what is with that lock/unlock switch on the lower platform? I completed with 0 walkthrough help. But back to that switch, wish it was chance for another ending. Nonetheless, i liked the game, even not as VR mode. And would explore it more.

Holy shades of Ahonay, batman! I knew this game was made by Cyan so I should have expected that twist. So much more beautifully done than in Uru, tho. ❤ Edit- it would be so awesome if you did Myst vr.

Huh, so the Keepers are basically the bad guys in this story. They assassinated the person that came to finally complete their mission and the woman pretty much made sure everything was forgotten by having all the keepers put away at once, erasing their entire vocal history and preventing them from finally being free. Considering how little they understood they desperately needed people who understood what was going on or they would have just gone on forever like that. She was right, they were like children and kind of acted like that.

I must be slow or something or haven't been following the game well enough. The ending did not clarify anything or made any sense. Who are the keepers, where did Turner and the others arrive from, why is this young woman dead, how could she "live" as a ghost and interact and wait for Turner to wake up after 7 years, why are they flying "home" now, what home? Where were they before that, who put them there? Keeping the Firmament? What about the space ship? Flying to another planet? What about the way "home" Turner established? Questions, questions, questions. It's clear the puzzles had nothing to do with the story...

Hey wolf you hear about fnaf help wanted 2?

I have a 3 year rule, to wait and buy a game (because they're always buggy), but this one i kinda wanted the spoilers regardless. And man, was i disappointed. Of all the works Cyan made, this one is ranked lowest, orders of magnitude below anything they've churned out. The story is phoned in big time and has the grabbing potential of 0. Every game of Cyan that i have ever played, it has made me feel something. Either wonder, sadness or even empathy towards someone i would've considered evil turned tragic. I feel nothing here. If it weren't for the fact that the engine seems kind of shoddy (as per other people's observations) i would've thought that this was a tech demo with a story tacked on. It looks good, but it's really lame (in the original sense of the word). It limps in an attempt to make something of nothing. Instead of this really aggravating "mentor" the story would've been served so much more better by the player being fed little bits of information at a time. A tidbit here, a tidbit there. Finding out who you were. The truth of your actions, building up the finale and giving the player the choice towards various paths. Evil, good, neutral. Instead, we got ... someone who was discombobulated at best, grating at worst, that rarely got tied in with the actual things we were doing and an ending that leaves even the most imaginative cold. Was the player supposed to feel anything given that there's basically nothing in the game outside the words of said "mentor" that doesn't actually mentor at all and just talks and talks but doesn't really get anywhere? I think not. For shame, because under this thin veneer of nothing being achieved as story goes, there was potential. Massive potential for a story and a plot that would've enthralled us in the usual Cyan fashion. Finding out the truth, empathizing or choosing not to, continuing the way your character was for this or that reason, reasons that aren't in the game, but could've been (one such example being the death perpetrated by Martha and the rise of insanity for Turner being a classic, but accepted "power corrupts, always". As Cyan games go, this one gets a solid 4 out of 10, and most of that score is purely in the visuals. Side note, it seems to me that writers have forgotten how to write and directors have forgotten how to direct. Games and movies have honed the technical aspects, but they have left the heart of it all long behind. All we see today is one repeat after another, polish, pushing for hardware in backroom deals that end up benefiting nobody, and a single lane, narrow road towards the death of big name games. Honestly, in the last years, had it not been for indie studios putting out simple but good plot stories with acceptable technology behind them, not this stupid quest for 32gigs of ram... i think gaming as we know it would've been even further down the ditch. Again, for shame. i did not expect this from Cyan and the Rand brothers, masters that gave us the likes of Myst. I am deeply saddened.

"Pretty Kewl" - Really? I think this game stinks. For me, the first Cyan game to fail. I think this story is a big let down; a big disappointment. If I knew this story line and stupid ending before I backed this thing, I would have kept my money.
