Laval Firefighters were on scene of a one alarm 10-09 structure fire at a 3 story residential complex on Delphis Street at the intersection of Foster Street and Delson Street, near Dagenais Boulevard in the Fabreville district of Laval.

[The incident took place just south of Dagenais Boulevard West in the early evening, on Monday, April 1, at about 6:26 p.m., 911 call time.
Presenting themselves on site at 6:31 p.m., the first of the 30 firefighters assigned to this mission, 8 units of the Laval Fire Service (SSIL) and their officers, had no trouble seeing the flames piercing the patio door of an apartment on the 1st floor.
Immediately working on the task, the firefighters completed the evacuation of the three floors of the residential building, going around each dwelling through the smoke, to ensure that no one had remained inside one of them.
As a preventive measure, firefighters also evacuated the twin building that was adjacent to the one affected by the fire; while their colleagues were already practicing an aggressive attack on the flames, managing to bring them down and take control of them on the 7:13 p.m. blow.
Care was also taken to cover the properties of several apartments with a polythene to protect them from water and smoke.
One person was taken care of by Urgence Santé after inhaling too much smoke in this fire that resulted in damage valued at $200,000 for the structure of the building and $20,000 for its contents.
On the scene, the SSIL firefighters have also unfortunately noted the absence of a smoke alarm and warn the Laval population that it is essential to have one of these devices and to check their proper functioning at least twice a year, ideally during seasonal time changes.]
