Almost made it through without saying ... palpable ... a word I have never used in my entire life but many of these stories insist on using.

It's a word still used in Britain. Probably because we still use proper English rather than the dumbed down American version.

Theres no problem with...using words in the English language to describe things lol. I've used it before and i AM American. Why the word hate? Its not like they are annoyingly spamming it.

One of the better stories. cast of charactors, a problem, and a decision. Not body died. Not two or three SUPER HUMANS doing all the work and winning the battle yupu know the super soldier and the super scientist. I find those sstories silly.

This short story was solid. Of course, you could have added universal translators or whatever. However I liked it very much.

please use another word other than "palpable" i dream of it in my sleep sometimes. like your story, better to talk first rather than shoot at the first sight of others (Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA).

If taken at random why did they all speak the same language? Were they all taken together as a group? As for the end space is big even with FTL the humans could have decades, centuries even to reverse engineer a ship. Oops for the Conclave! lol
