In the southern Sahara, there is no issue; it's as safe as any other area in Morocco. There can't be any border checks; it's Morocco. It's like moving between Casablanca and Marrakech. There's really nothing in the area contrary to what Google might say. It's just a group of people in Algeria demanding independence for this area, similar to the Catalans in Spain, except they don't even live in this area. It's like any other area in morocco with McDonald's, malls, hotels, etc., just in the desert.

Besides Darija(the spoken "Arabic" language in Morocco, a blend of Spanish, French, Berber languages and Arabic and not understood in the Middle East) the indigenous Berber languages (known as Tamazight) are still widely spoken(also in Algeria). North Africa has always been the mediterranean part of the African continent and the indigenous(meaning not the reault of a colonial population) are still there. We are poor compared to the European countries, but we are still more developed than most South American, African and Asian countries. Our standards are growing and I think in 20-30 years we will have the same standards as the European ones, maybe not Germany and the Netherlands but who has in Europe. I live in the Netherlands and have traveled to other European countries so I have a bit of knowledge about them.
