#Farm #Illinois #Fall #Harvest #FarmingSimulator22
Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

I think that is absolutely wonderful that your dad trusts you with a significant investment in the farm. Not sure when his dad started supporting Marty's land purchases and other decisions, but the time comes when you have to trust the next generation.

turning at the headland had the auto steer fighting you for some reason (somewhere around 11 minutes). You were turning left and the rears were also left. Thats opposite of what you want to do and why you think its nuts. Has to be a buried setting in stupid menus. Crab is a cute feature they put in for alfalfa or other monster acre farmers running autosteer.

I like to add 50 mesh tip strainers. Really saves a lot of tip plugging. Helps even if you have a 50 mesh strainers on the main lines.

Most guys have no issues and throw them in the trash. Filter your tender and keep strainers is good shape and i never tip problems. And i run 04 tips. 06 tips would plug less.

Hey Andy don't forget to charge your boom each time you change chemicals just like priming your planter typically 30 to 60 sec and chemicals will be all the way outto the end.

Need mesh strainers, don’t forgot to charge boom with atleast 20 through boom when starting new chemistry, also when turning on endrows never go outside of your endrow tracks. Just a little bit of knowledge that you’ll understand with acres on the machine!

The mesh strainers were a point of contention for me. I had many people say that they weren’t necessary, especially with inline strainers to each book section. I’ve been learning to stay in the same tracks on the end, but it can be hard!!

Awsome video! Great job on first day spraying! I would suggest though you get strainer and strain everything you put on that machine, it will definitely help with choked up tips and the strainer on machine from getting choked. Just helpful tip, maybe u are already straining it and I just didn’t see it. I run sprayers everyday commercialy and we strain everything!

Andy, it’s nothin but a thing runnin a spray rig. It does look like your boom is a tad to low. Could be the camera. Personally I’m not a fan of Hagie’s. I don’t like the feeling of being the first one on scene if a hub locks up. 😂 I had it happen on a Deere and everything came to a halt very quickly! You will love the blue lights on the boom. It makes it so easy to spray at night.
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer Жыл бұрын
I’ve felt the stopping power of that thing just from yanking the hydrostat back a few times… I can only imagine what an emergency stop feels like. The boom has been set at 20-36” depending on the terrain. I do have 15” nozzles, so I don’t need to be super high up for good coverage.

Really curious the acres/hr you are getting out of each machine? Planter, sprayer, field cultivators. Not use to equipment that big.
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer Жыл бұрын
I don’t have actual averages, but I can speculate on straight line averages. The corn planter is running around 70 acres per hour. The soybean planter can do 60-65 acre per hour. The bigger tractor can do 45-55 acres per hour with a field cultivator. The sprayer can do 175-250 acres per hour. Again, those are straight line numbers. You’ll never actually come close to that by the time you account for bathroom breaks, loading products, breakdowns, etc…

Question for ya! I have asked many of the YT Farmers and none have answered yet. Why are corn and soybeans planted differently in irrigated vs non-irrigated ground? Like I see, all the irrigated farmers use a folding toolbar planter and all the non using pull behind type. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why!
@Hendog1001
@Hendog1001 Жыл бұрын
big reason for pull type versus mounted planters is portability and a mounted planter is much more precise for when planting around pivots and with areas like texas you spend alot of time on the road so not having the speed limit imposed by the planter is nice as well
@Dontworryboutit315

Andy, Can't help to wonder why you need special gloves to handle loading of product, but you are sitting behind the spray in a cab while spraying ! Why Is a Hagee better than a J-D sprayer ? Big money either way ! Are you breathing any fumes from product being sprayed ? With monitors, why have a front boom spraying product all over the machine and the stairs you go down, while not wearing special gloves ? Asking for a friend.
@agger838
@agger838 Жыл бұрын
The cab has a charcoal filter and a intake up above the cab. You dont smell the products at all. But yeah touching the rails youll get product on you if not wearing gloves. Its not really a big deal unless its insecticide in my opinion
