The 2JZ engine'd cars were part of a 'gentleman's agreement' matey, where the manufacturer's all agreed not to go above 300bhp. A bit like in the early 90's there was a similar agreement between German manufacturer's not go go above 200bhp, which is why the E36 BMW 328i only had 197bhp and the 325i had 196 bhp. Yet put the intake manifold from a 325 on a 328 and instantly gain 30bhp (because the 328 manifold was restricted). The M140i and it's B58 was tested at over 400bhp and BMW detuned it to 340bhp so there was a 'gap' between them and the proper M cars. Real M cars have a wider track, better suspension, limited slip diff, so there is a obvious advantage of a real M car and people still buy them over an M lite mate. It gets a second 'kick' in power because of the variable valve timing and double variable camshaft control system (twin vanos) mate, which is BMW's version of vtec essentially. BMW's have had this system for decades. Saving up for Bilstein B16 here (I'll be saving a while, they are fxxking expensive lol).

Nice video mate. I own the same car. By the way, it'll leave the original M2 for dead, even in stock form. The difference between the M2 and the M140 is the chassis. Keep up the good work.

The Eibach pro-Kit springs are very good, maybe even better than H&R, it’s more about what you‘d like to achieve! The Eibach springs are the same as used in B12 kit H&R lower more, about 35mm, maybe even a bit too much for the rest OEM bump stops and damper

Oh fair enough, I just heard from a couple people they’re weren’t that great! Personally I really like the fitment on the H&R springs

You were pretty close on the engine the regular M2 has the N55 single twin scroll turbo. The M2 Competition uses the S55 twin turbo engine as found in the old model M3/M4.

Just goes to show the the engines in the 135i and 140i are underpowered, when the m2 og has the n55 and much more horsepower than the 135i

@ShogunsDojo3 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, loving what you’ve done with the car. I do somewhat disagree with your thoughts on the M2 in relation to the M140i/M240i. They didn’t stop selling the rear drive M140i because it was too close to the M2, they stopped because it went front drive to increase cabin and storage space. We’re still getting a new M240i 😎 We need to remember that the M lites and M cars are derivative products and not stand alone in that the M3 cannot exist without the 3 series to serve as the base. The M2 competition was only created due to emissions regulations, even that car was not an attempt to distance the M2 from the M lites. M cars are about chassis, they really are sports cars made from the regular series, our cars are incredible but other than the larger engine its a standard BMW so they may appear similar but they’re for different uses. M lites make for better road cars whilst M cars are better performance cars that have far more track potential. I don’t think one is better than the other, it depends on how they’ll be used. I do think the M lites are the better performance bargain though, whilst M cars remain the most desirable. Sorry for the essay.

True true, the mlites are much more suited to the road and M cars are track weapons that will also rip the streets up!
