That noise is your secondary air pump mate only stays on for a minute on startup

R32 isnt about the speed, its more about the feeling and sound.

I’ve driven a manual and my R32 was DSG I had loads of fun in both but I’d say dsg is better I had full miltek system and had the dsg remapped to! Can drive round in automatic just nice and steady or can use sport mode and use the flappys or the gear stick in +\- definitely going to get another next year after I’ve bought a house 👌🏽👍🏽

Don't know if Hamza will ever see this but I think doing an N/A build with this would a good idea(like cams, manifold a good ecu tune etc), though I would say to take the straight pipe out of it to make it more of a car you can actually drive in the public, with some kind of muffler. The VR6 is the most iconic engine VW had, and being the last Golf with it is something to go with. the R32 Is like a W04 C63 of Golfs, with the electric era coming this will be such a rare gem in history.

06 plate is the best from a resale point of view, last reg with low tax, 56 onwards it's much more expensive. Looks like a nice bit of kit and the noise, just amazing.

Welcome back! My Golf days stopped at Golf 4 GTi 132Kw. This R32 sounds excellent, even if whatever GTi is faster.

My wife is proper embarrassed (bore!) by the noise, but it’s soo grin inducing. It’s also hilarious watching pedestrians **** themselves when u stick it in sports mode and go WOT! 😂😂

You just can’t beat the raw sound and instant throttle response from a VR6 especially a 3.2! A highly over engineered block. It was originally designed to be a diesel, thus being very resilient and reacts well to induced induction. Whether Supercharged or Turbo you don’t really need to build the engine just a spacer plate and you’re good for 400+ depending on tolerances!

I'd find it hard not to smile when pushing that throttle pedal. I owned a Golf VR6 12 years ago, i loved how smooth the engine was, sold it in the end as it was becoming a money-pit. (It was a '93 model if i recall.)

Make sure the inlet manifold is working, if they don’t it’s flat, before 4200 it’s on the torque position after that turns to power position, should be open when at idle the Rev it up to past 4200 you should see it move, 2.8 bde works the opposite way round, transforms the car

Yes bruv. I love mine, but thinking of swapping now for maybe an R36 passat!! Can't get enough of the VR6 noise. Best engine VW ever made.

Same I bought one on a whim and it’s such a fun obnoxious car I also have a 270bhp NA ep3 which is my baby I call the r32 a safe power delivery the type r is an aggressive power delivery so can totally understand the appeal

I think a small resonator would make it a lot better. Would cut down on the rasp. If the harsh high end rasp was taken out you would be left with a deep and meaty tone without that "ricey" flabby whoopee cusion noise haha.

I recently bought an r32 that had had the centre resonator deleted and was stupid loud like in the video. I got a pair of hot dogs welded in the centre and it sounds much better, still good sound without the tinny top end.

Sounds savage. Will be good to know what exhaust mods its had to make it sound like that when you get it up on the ramp 👍

The whirring noise is the secondary air injection pump. Just injects more air on a cold start, totally normal.

I have Golf GTI mk5 and Jeep Grand Cherokee WK with 5.7 hemi. Both are 2005 models and as fun as the GTI is to drive, you just can't beat the feeling and sound of a naturally aspirated V8 hemi :D I know R32 has "only" 3.2 liter engine, but being naturally aspirated I'd imagine it being as much fun and of course, it being quicker than WK with 5.7 hemi, I always wonder if I should've gone with R32 instead of GTI :P N/A engines just have that "something", the charm, feel and all that.

I took the resonator off my r32 assuming nothing would happen to power... It really affected the powerband. Like really affected it. Felt gutless in mid revs and maybe a touch stronger top end. Chucked it back on within three weeks.

You could do an engine swap, fit a Golf GTI 2.0tfsi into it, make a 4wd GTI, then give it proper power 😉

Secondary air pump has a slight leak I’d say.. Either replace or u can delete it 👍🏻

Get it tuned stage 2 or something then it will be something else.
