M2 comp is the most fun car I’ve ever had! Similar price but I suppose in Luke’s circumstances having had a 700bhp 140i it’s kinda the same thing content wise so the a45s was a good choice

My A45 is going back to EST at the start of march to have wagner rads, meth v3 system and the littco540 turbo fitted, it's already stage 2 420 bhp done by EST and I literally cannot WAIT to take it back to them. They are the ultimate tuning company in the UK. I wouldn't let anybody else tune my car, even if they paid me !

@David Kemp. I guess its all down to risk whether tuners tell their insurers of modifications. Some will and absorb the costs, others won't and take a massive risk. Trouble is not telling your insurance is not only a risk but breaking the law and can have very serious consequences if you have an accident because you are technically uninsured and thats classed as an IN10 on your licence + 6 points and many insurers will decline cover after.. Injure someone in the process and you are talking custodial sentence. Then of course there is the warranty on a car under 3 years old. Mercedes are particuarly strict on A45S modifications (thanks Sandown of Poole Mercedes) even with minor mods. A quick call to Sandown will clarify. Manufacturers are only too keen to avoid paying out if they can find an excuse and adding 3rd party mods is one way. Blown engines, turbos, or gearboxes need seriously deep pockets and I mean serious, if they fail whilst trying to obtain that fastest 0-60 sprint in your 500bhp car. Whilst I see the 2 fingers in the air and hear the boo's and killjoy being levelled, I would leave mods until warranty expires and then you are on your own anyway, unless you have wads of cash to fork out regardless.

What's it like compared to the 140i? I love 3L engines and have always said I wouldn't swap mine for anything 4 cylinder especially since it's a 3 series but heavier but they are all so capable and it's the direction they are all going 👍

When you launch it and the revs hold, tap the shift up button once this will increase the revs and it will launch harder with more boost. I did a 3.0 0-60 on my Stage 2 on the Track Pace App on the infotainment system with this method

pretty low delta for a stage 1 tune - I got 80 bhp from stage 1 DMS tune (going from 412 to 490 bhp).

They offer a good service but just be cautious of the figures they give you at the end. They’re known to let the car climb the rollers and other trickery giving a higher end figure. My car was mapped there stage 1 and produced 427 on their dyno. Went to two other independent rolling roads and both produced 400 on the nose. That equates to about 6% inflation from DMS. Doing the maths on your car, 6% loss on 490 comes in at 460… I’d be interested to see what your car produces elsewhere.

DMS are well known for inflating their dyno figures. Most likely, you're running around 460bhp on another dyno.

Has your car suffered with the gearbox crunch yet? Was looking at an A45 but the crunch and the fact it takes 10 miles for the gearbox to warm up has put me off getting one. Looking at a Cupra 290 Lux now

I just don’t understand this “KZfaqr” obsession with 0-60. Who cares if its half a second faster? I’ve been driving cars/high performance cars for over 30 years and have never felt the need to go from 0-60 as fast as possible as it puts huge stress on engine/clutch/gearbox, hence buying a used performance car nowadays (which hasn’t been abused) is almost impossible, unless you can find one that’s been owned by an adult.

In the UK u are limited to 70 mph so 0-60 plays a big important part of a car down here. Yes u are correct it can cause stress on components but depends, if u are a maniac and launch the car 10 times a day for a few months then of course but if it's here and their it is more than capable to do it.
