First Drive Of The Mk2 Golf 16v ABF Track Car

It's been over a year since the VW Golf Mk2 track car was damaged after an incident on track. We established the chassis wasn't damaged and it's since undergone a massive front end restoration, including engine bay repaint, refurbished engine components and freshly painted bumpers.
Now the hard work is done, it's time for a much anticipated first drive. Was it worth all that effort?

I mean, I can't take much credit at all on this car. I just stand there and get in the way for the most part! But yeah, Ben has done an incredible job on this car and it looks and sounds so good and goes like you wouldn't believe for 'just' 203bhp.

So good to see this back on the road for over a year! Worth the wait for sure. The seatbelt scene really had me laughing, lanky armed b*stard 😅

@xXaurajXx it is great isn't it? The temptation could have so easily to throw it back together and have it back on the road much faster, but the finish is now 2nd to none, having done such a meticulous job on the rebuild. And yes, he is right. I am a lanky armed 'you know what' (to keep the KZfaq police happy) 😆

Nice! Engine sounds fine. Good and eager throttle response. You know, I could hear it, in the background- don't know if you could, Queen, with Roger Taylor on vocals "I'm in love with my car......." accompanying video has a brief shot of a 328 in it.

The throttle response is what's most impressive. It is instantaneous and it pulls so well throughout the rev range. That's a good song to picture playing in the video!

So glad to see this back on the road after over a year, the hard work has certainty paid off as it just looks beautiful and the detail Bens gone to really does show. You two really made me laugh with the seatbelt scene lanky armed.... 😂
