I agree on needing 1500 for121 or 135 over 30 passengers as a base requirement. My issue with the 1500 hour rule is all the smaller planes are turning to single pilot ops (which the captain requires 1200 hours for IFR or really higher because its single pilot ops). The co-pilot in these single pilot aircraft are not allowed by FAA regs to record time in the 2nd seat even though higher performance aircraft experience would be a big help over 172. Other then CFI there really is only a couple places where a 300-1200 pilot is useful. As we get more automation, as the regs require a single competent (more hour) captain, there is less and less space for an SIC to gain experience.

Great video. I’m very glad that THE best two KZfaq Pilot channels connected. I did not know that the video was taking place. A suggestion for next time is to maybe do a small dedicated 1 minute video or two, a week in advance announcing the upcoming livestream. You guys may have done some things in the buildup and I just missed it. Specific question on the simulator. My computer is running an i5-13400F - 16GB Memory - a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - with a 500GB SSD. What upgrades should be done for a good simulator experience with VR?

Is it possible for me as a single father of three (50% custody) who has a full-time job to work towards becoming a pilot? I'm trying to reinvent myself post divorce. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Too old to make a lot of money but not too old to live your dream. There is a glut of people coming through after all the airline raises. So it’s not going to be as easy as it was last year to get in but you will make it and if you aren’t in it for just the money, you will enjoy it.
