Good job. Satisfaction in fixing something instead of trashing it.

i damaged my accords aluminum hood and no shop would touch it, only option they told me was to buy a new one.

Repairing aluminum parts is quite difficult, so craftsmen try to refuse such work and recommend replacing the part. I decided to try to repair it as a temporary solution until the new hood was delivered

Would a rubber mallet be good to use on the back of the hood or would that cause to much damage
@_demon1k_4 жыл бұрын
Yes, because the aluminum hood needs to be heated, it is easy to damage the paint even with a rubber mallet
@ismaelcarrillo3956 Жыл бұрын
Use a polyurethane mallet. It had the perfect impact results. Aluminum is very stubborn.

How would you go about straightening an aluminum hood?
@_demon1k_3 ай бұрын
Aluminum is also metal and can be straightened, but only small bends, I was just practicing on this hood, but such damage should not be repaired
@bfocsa2 жыл бұрын
If i have a hole in it , how can it be fixed?
@_demon1k_2 жыл бұрын
TIG welding only. The hood is made of aluminum
@_demon1k_ Жыл бұрын
@Will Swift mig welding will give more severe metal deformation, but will also work if there is no other. Yes, it is better to heat aluminum before all work

Usamos martillos de plásticos de goma dura y suave y de fenólica madera
@_demon1k_ Жыл бұрын
Sí, estos martillos funcionarían mejor, pero no tenía muchas herramientas en ese momento

I must admit it looks like shet, but look at all the money saved.

This repair was as an experience with aluminum, maybe someone will be useful for their repair. But this repair only gives time to save up money to replace the part

Looked like a waste of time

Hood straightening was done for temporary installation until the arrival of new parts and for gaining experience in working with aluminum. Watch the following videos and you will understand how it looks at the end of the work.
