My favourite rep set 215/216 is officially out of the fleet.
216 was sent for scrap on 17th April 2024
215 was sent for scrap on 20th April 2024
With only 5 SIEs remaining on the NSEWL, it's very hard to catch one these days and will most likely fully retire by the end of this year.
As 215/216 headed for it's retirement, 213/214 is the last 21x/21x SIE left in service, survived multiple MIAs.
This was my last ever time seeing 215/216.
Quite surprising that many train enthusiast came to bid farewell to this train.
Things I noticed:
- Missing train doors on car 3215 (Most likely taken as spare parts for the remaining 5 SIEs)
- Trailers came way ahead of schedule (Trailers arrived at Toyotron at 7.45pm, but Toyotron was not ready, with trucks still entering and exiting the scrapyard and the ramp only placed around 8.20pm)
- Misbehavior (Apparently some train enthusiast did not behave well such as one who tried to climb the trailer to see the interior of the train car. This is dangerous and may result to injuries. Violating privacy by taking photos of others purposely is not allowed and must have permission)
- Door Position (Something strange but may have a reason, the middle 2 doors of all 3 cars are open while the doors at the sides are all closed. If you have a reason why is this so let me know in the comments)
With that, I would like to wish 215/216 a happy retirement. As the saying goes: Run Free In The Rails Of Heaven!
