Just found your channel from a Global West add. I am installing GW on my 65 442, so very interested in your car. Great that you are sharing all that you have done. I will looking at the previous videos for tips!! One thing, the instructions I got with my TKO said to free wheel the transmission in each gear for break in. It seemed like it was for 15 minutes of run time on the hoist going thru the gears. I haven't done it yet. I installed my TKO 10 yrs ago and got side tracked. Video's like yours are an inspiration!! Thanks for going to all the effort to get this documented!! Congrats on getting it running and sorted out!! Looking forward to more vids from you!!

Thanks Mr. Gadgets! Welcome to the channel... First I'm hearing of "free wheeling the gears". I did NOT do that. I do know you have to spend time down shifting, and coasting in gear, under load... that gets the front and back side of each gear some wear. Hope that makes sense. Thanks again for your positive comments... glad to help, and let us know if you have any questions... see you soon!

I have just started watching your videos and absolutely love them! Funny thing is, I am doing almost the exact same build! 66 GTO with a butler 428 and tko 600! You are very informative and have been extremely helpful! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Jeremy! That's great to hear I've been able to provide some education. Which is my intent. Now that I'll be driving more, I have to figure out how to make my driving videos more "Entertaining" than Informative. Ha, ha... Not to worry though, I have several more projects to do on "Green Envy". Can't wait to see your build!

@@FastMonty Also, you might notice that I've been experimenting with different things as well. Recently I figured out how to do a video via illusion style. What I do is I take a picture of a car, and then I can use that picture for the video after I clean it up and insert an alpha into the pic.

@@FastMonty Definitely helps since I don't have access to any of those cars, all I have to do is find one and snap a pic, most often one at a car lot. Those video's are to hopefully provide the viewer with some sort of variety to watch and hopefully they'll watch it.

I'm a recent subscriber, first time commenter! Your is an excellent video series which I will use this winter when I replace the Muncie in my '68 Camaro. Be careful with the billet distributor clamp you used. I had one on my small block and it would loosen up over time. I went to a chrome played stock piece.

Nice work all the way through. Since I’m doing a conversion from Silver Sport I watched all your Tremec videos since I have to do the same things you did and some (mine is an auto). It started with me just wanting to do a cheap motor swap. Car is a small block and I don’t have time to do a full tear down an upgrade to big block. So I pulled the motor and it was a month out from Sunmit so I figured I do a cheap rear disc brake upgrade. Then I figured might as well do suspension since motor is out. Then thought, I’ve always wanted a manual, so bought the kit from Silver Sport. Then I figured I’d do a rearend so I put a moser rearend with 3.91’s since I’m putting in the 6 speed. Motor is taking longer than expected so I’m kind of at a stand still. So I’ve got my own adventure going on and hopefully will get it wrapped up this year. Great job.

Thanks SJ... love that story... I originally wanted our family mechanic to rebuild the motor, put modern brakes on it, and add some paint. Ha! Six years later, I did a frame off rebuild. That's how this hobby goes... thanks for hanging out, and can't wait to see your ride!

Hey Monty, I just subscribed to your channel. Your GTO sounds insane and looks even more insane! I love that color green and it looks great. I'm in the process of ripping down the top end of my Trans Am currently, it's a 1969 engine with "62" heads. I bought this engine complete back in 1991 and I have no build sheet on the guts of it but it does go good. Currently it has an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 750 Dbl pumper carb. My buddy gave me a 1969 stock spread bore intake in mint condition and I'm going to port and polish it. I'm going to run a stage 2 Q-jet carb on it as I want it for a daily driver. The 750 Holley is way too much carb for it. Stay tuned I will most def have a few questions for you buddy...lol

How come you didn’t go with a Tremec 6 spd?
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 3 жыл бұрын
Great question! Two reasons... one, it's more expensive. Two, it's huge. There was a possibility that the TKO would fit without tunnel modifications. The T56 would absolutely require tunnel mods. Good news is I still have the final drive ratio that a T56 has, and the torque of my motor doesn't care in between 4th and 5th gear. :) Keep up the great questions!
