In honor of the Beechcraft Starship's anniversary, enjoy this video from EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015! That was the year EAA paid tribute to the legacy of Burt Rutan, who designed this aircraft, along with 45 others.

I've always loved that airplane! I think that it would be extra cool if they would convert one from turbo prop pushers to turbo fan jet engines.

@@SearTripThere are a few but even less are air worthy. Many just got scraped due to the inability to repair the carbon fiber fuselage. Most surviving models are in museums.

They could never reduced the sound in the fuselage. The noise level was uncomfortable for the clients/passengers.

To reduce carbon emissions, they just sacrifice comfort. Jet engines will caused more protest.

If I remember correctly, that was more or less an exaggeration. The original complaint was from pre-production. The few that sold had additional soud deadening. Part of it was the carbon fiber fuselage. It resonated differently than they expected.

It also could fly slower than most aircraft. It had good maneuverability, too.

Yes, Piaggio did it better, but this was the original starship. It's a beautiful plane mired in requirements creep.

If you look closely, the starship does not have a tail. The p180d does.
