First Flight in P3Dv5 - A2A Simulations V35B Bonanza V-Tail - LA to Catalina Island - KBUR - KAVX

So I finally made the jump and switched to P3Dv5.
In this flight we use the fantastic A2A Simulations V35B Bonanza V-Tail , a demanding addon in itself, to test one of the toughest scenery areas on FPS, the Orbx FTX NA Southern California area.
Also checking out the wonderful Catalina Island.
Huge thanks to Thorsten (the maestro who created the livery) and Toby (the boss!) from Andras Meridian Airlines for allowing me to use the work Bo for this video. I have great fun flying this aircraft in it's air taxi role around the UK and Norway. Great video as always p3dv5 is and looks great I certainly got an increase in fps .will wait a while before purchasing msfs 2020 though

Well done and thanks for the trip Rob! I'm finding the same positive things with v5, but that KBUR scenery does NOT run on my system...yet... ;)

Many thanks Rob! Yes that area is very demanding indeed. I wouldn't have flown there in V4 unless I had to but in V5 it isn't bad at all considering the sheer weight of autogen that is being pumped out. I too am feeling the need to beef up my horsepower but am going to wait and see what 2020 performs like!

Nice vid once again! Very much the same sort of experience I've been having with V5. Nice and smooth, less stutters, however I find the large pauses to be significantly worse than V4. Overall though it's a nice evolution of the P3D series. Not sure how well it will hold up against MFS2020 (time will tell), but I'll be keeping it installed for now as I'm a big fan of VR. Not sure how your autopilot can even remember how to fly. . . he doesn't get much practice!

Into the Blue thanks so much! Yes did some more flying today over LA to troubleshoot a few things and pauses were there. It’s interesting to test over Orbx Southern California LA as its such demanding scenery. Very true regarding 2020. My plan was to actually skip V5 but when A2A announced that the current fleet isn’t necessarily getting ported over I thought I would go with V5 to fly the beloved Spitfire etc. but run 2020 at the same time and pick up the add-on aircraft as they appear.

@@Dreamsofwings As you say, the 'joys' of starting with a new sim! ha. I've been mostly flying with ORBX TE GB, so again, a very demanding area. Is that right regarding A2A. Shame. I guess that will be another reason to hang on to V5 for me as well then. For what it's worth, I tried disabling Windows Defender real-time protection on my system for a test flight. That seemed to help with the stutters (although it may just have been a coincidence), I will investigate that avenue further.

At last. Welcome to v5. What do you think? I bought it on day One and never looked back. Performance is better than v4 at the same settings. If you want to fly on the West Coast go to Northern California, Oregon and Washington and get yourself TrueEarth for each of those. Stunning in v5.

I’m very impressed Ian. Still doing a bit of troubleshooting but impressed with how v5 dealt with the notorious South Cali. I wanted to use the Bo with the GTN stack to add to the sims workload and I think it coped really well considering what V4 used to be like. I was tempted to get the US Trueearth packs but going to wait until I have 2020 and have had a chance to settle that in before I decide to get any more of the expensive p3d packs.
