I've been riding/racing for over 50 years , never gave the yz400 a try until 2014 , I own 3 of them now , along with 2 426's , best bikes I've ever owned !

That’s awesome! Very interesting! Never once raced quads or bikes…I do think if you look at the side of them first generation 4 Strokes they do resemble a 4cylinder motorcycle engine. Which is cool. I had the YZ426F

I own a ktm 250 4t and it’s good but pretty expensive bike and i never really liked yamahas, until i met 2 yamaha guys, one with 04 or 05 yzf 250 and when he gave me a ride i was „yeah it’s cool but it’s not really my type of bike” but later i met 2nd guy with 01 yz426 and ngl this dude made me fell in love with old yamahas, just everything about that bike is amazing, performance wise it’s great, he’s not type of guy to ride slow trails, he does wheelies on 5th gear non stop and engine survived 250mth of that riding style with proper maintenace, looks wise it’s also best looking bike from that year range, and for me it’s best designed yamaha, and the sound… oh my god it sounds amazing when it goes from low rpm to high rpm when doing wheelie or giving it full throttle on a gravel roads. And after riding couple 450s i thought about buying 426 because in poland cheapest ones that are fully running are starting from 1400usd because i don’t want to sell my ktm and good old 450 that i can get really cheap is good deal i think

I have more modern bikes but got a 400 a year ago just because they are so much fun. Its essentially a 4 stroke designed to handle like a 2 stroke, so it loves kicking that rear end out and lofting the front wheel anytime you throttle. Power is easier to manage than my 450, only downside for me is the brakes and suspension are years behind the motor.

Definitely a cool bike. I had fun on one for a short time!

This bike sweeped the start line of Mx worldwide by 1999 ..I purchased one straight after a test ride and loved it and all the other four strokes I purchased after this one

My buddy had a modern trike conversion of one of these, thing ripped. I started it once and felt it rev so high and quick with the high redline you mentioned that I looked into the history of the engine that night, and I borrowed his truck to go buy one less than 24 hours later. I’m now building my own 426 conversion, killer video about a killer bike, cheers Man.

That’s awesome. I did have one many years ago. I remember that revs up super quick. Snappy bike that changed the game! Thanks for watching!

Awesome. I have a road legal 2001 yz426f currently. Full big gun race series pipe. It screams and oh does it rip!!! I had a 2000 back when I was 15, it was my 2nd bike after having a 2003 xr100r. It was a big jump lol but I had to own another one here almost 15 years later

One problem with video. Its not really true. One word Husenburg. Yes they had qwerks, and were one of the big four Japanese Co's but they were very competitive, primarily in Europe. p.s. I and two of my buddies all bought and loved 1998 YZ400F's they were such an off awesome new bike + reliable, afforbable + dealer network, the last two were things Husenbergs were not.
