Came across this vid from a Raptor forum. Just bought a 2023 Raptor and it came with 37s all around. The truck, however, was a 35. I off road this thing (it’s also my daily) and was worried about the repercussions from the 37s. Nice to know I’m all good!

Great video and overview of the Gen 3's capability. It makes me look forward to upgrading to a Gen 3, even more. Thanks for the info! Since you said the back end of the truck did bottom out a few times, do you think it's bottoming out bad enough that the frame could bend, or the bed slap the cab, on jumps, without running hydraulic bump stops? Would you recommend going with an aftermarket rear hydraulic bump stop kit, which I assume would have to be located in the center of the springs? If so, do you think it's as necessary, or more necessary, as upgrading to a rear hydraulic bump stops on the Gen 2?
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
thanks...glad you enjoyed it! I think it will be fine with stock bump setup. I should have clarified a bit better - It didn't bottom out bad...in fact it did fine with the weight it had. However, if i had another 200lbs (so about 400-500lbs) in the bed it would be a problem. And a hydraulic bump wouldn't fix the problem, an HD coil would. A hydraulic bump would be a nice performance improvement most likely but it won't fix the fact that the truck is not sitting at the optimal ride height due to increased payload. I forgot to cover this in the video but they added a bump to the rear shock shafts. It's something the fronts have always had but the rear shocks now have them. So you have 4 bump points for the rear which is pretty cool. Compared to any other generation, I think this one is least needs a hydraulic bumpstop. That said I'd still love to have one. The aftermarket is going to have a tough time figuring out how to make a kit work though. There is not much room with the coil perch where it is. So it's nice that it has a pretty good bump setup stock. to get by for now.

Can you post the information on how to get hooked up with you guys for this run?

Great info. Thanks for sharing. Since the minor mods you’ve done in the video you posted, have you added anything else? I just picked up the Gen 3 35 package and threw on 37s with 2 inch level. No rubbing at all.

what wheels did you go with? just got my gen 3 35, lookin to do the same
@watsonlee67982 жыл бұрын
So you bought the 35 model then put on 37s? Then do you still get the 14 inches front and 15 inches rear of travel with 37s? And if there are no problems then why does Ford say it needs different suspension to be able to handle the 37s?
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
That's correct. Wheel's are a 6mm offset so they are more aggressive than stock. As you can see, we fully cycled the suspension. I can't say all wheel/tire combos will have no rubbing but mine does not. I'm not sure why ford limits it. With stock offset wheels there is even less chance of rubbing. I do know the 37 package Raptor has 1/10th of an inch bigger shock shaft which does allow the live valve to exert significantly more dampening. The head engineer at Icon told me something like 600lbs more of force if I remember correctly. Regardless, it's a lot out of such a small difference in diameter.

Great vid! Interesting though this is the first gen 3 raptor I’ve seen with the quad beam led headlights and not the other ones that normally come on limiters, platinums and other raptors

Thanks! I think they are standard for Raptors. Mine is an 800A with a few extras.

The harsness is def a issue with the some oem shocks being defected and end links. about 40 of us have these issues from the jump
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. As neat as the live valve shocks are, I would still prefer some conventional reservoir coilovers up front and triple bypass in the rear. The live valve lines are prone to get cut at some point when you offroad. I wish they'd make the lines steel braided. I know mine will get cut at some point unless I find some sort of protective solution.

What kind of BOXES do you use to carry stuff in, in your truck bed?! I've been through a couple boxes. I'm looking for a good one that can carry Tools that may bounce around a little without wrecking/breaking the box.
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
I've used Husky 37" mobile job box from Home Depot. Key is to make sure they are packed so things aren't flying around inside. I put a packing blanket on the bottom and have one I put on top to keep things from moving around. There are some nice options from Roam adventure co but more pricey. A rubber mat of some sort underneath the box helps to keep it from moving around as well.

Great video, would you suggest a lower gear with the 37’s like a 4.56 or 4.88?
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, it's not that noticeable with the tire size change with so many gears. Personally, I like it because the gears are so short and the 37's lengthen them. I find the truck shifts to much in Baja with trans in auto. I often override it and manually shift it manually.

Did you get the 37 inch package then swap the tires or buy it with the 35s then swap them
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
35 package and swapped to 37's. My wheels are 6mm offset. A buddy has slight rubbing on his inner fender liner with 0mm offset wheels. Not a big deal. Just trimmed a little of the plastic away.

Great info and I was looking for someone to talk about the 37’s and if there is a big difference between the 35’s and 37’s. I am waiting on my Gen 3 should next month and I went with the 35’s and was planning on putting the 37’s on and not paying the $7500.00 for the 37’ performance package. Now I can put the 37’s on and save some money thanks to you and the info. Thanks. I did see that the front springs on the 37’s are bigger then the 35’s but couldn’t tell the rear. I would love to do this trip with you guys and experience some really cool stuff. Thanks again.
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
Right on man...glad we could help with your decision. I will add my wheels are +6mm offset and the tires have a spec of 36.5" and 13.6" wide. I think most 37" setups should clear. A wider offset may have issues but i think very minor trimming to the inner fender would be needed. You would probably run into this issue regardless if you ordered a 37" package or not with very aggressive wheel offset. I am pretty confident stock wheels would have no issues with 37's. Only potential issue would be rubbing the upper control arm if you have a really wide 37 with aggressive side lugs.
@jameskent31142 жыл бұрын
Thank bro, are the off-sets different from the 35’s and 37’s on the Gen 3s
@Expeditionxoffroad2 жыл бұрын
@@jameskent3114 Good question. I poked around the internet and it looks like the 37's come with a 30mm offset and 35" is a 34mm so there is a slight difference. So there there's a decent 37's might rub the upper control arms with stock wheels if you have a 35 package Gen3.

Where theres a will...theres a way. You'd likely have to swap to Gen2 fenders as well to make it work.
