Yeah. I purchased the pre order bundles, and I IMMEDIATELY noticed how ridiculously OP throwing money at this mode was while opening packs. After like 130 packs, I couldn’t upgrade my heroes worth shit. Yes, I know I’m a dumb whale, but I wanted to see how the mode was going to play out P2W wise. It’s atrocious. More P2W than hearthstone base game. Imagine opening packs to build a deck but then you also can spend dust to upgrade cards to be better than everybody else’s cards for no reason. Pretty lame system for a PvP mode. It works fine for PvE.

@@GabrielLopes-dp1cl The same “level” yes, but the quality? Also didn’t Trump face people who had higher leveled skills than he did? I remember him going “LEVEL 3?!” for a skill in this video which is what I was referring to. You can’t pay to level your characters, but you can pay to level up their individual skills.

I think the biggest thing this game mode needs is a way to see the enemy unit's abilities. It's absolutely vital to know what they can do, but the game doesn't allow for that, which means people using 3rd party websites or software are going to have a massive advantage as it spoon feeds them what abilities your opponent has access to while everyone else has to make vague guesses or slowly learn it over hundreds of games.

@@BattleCats-do7ep I suppose I should have specified that I meant in the fighting pit. I know that in the bounties you can click on enemies to see what ability they are about to use, but unless I'm missing something, you can't see what other abilities they have access to, or what abilities an enemy merc has access to in the fighting pit.

The "Your Opponent" people are definitely AI. I played against a bunch of them today and only one person with an actual name. The key differences is that no matter how fast you play the "Your Opponent" player is always ready and you never have to wait for them. I know it's possible to hide your name but it's super obvious which is AI or not. They play kinda stupid too, I basically climbed to 5,000 rating without losing a single game against a bunch of AI. It just matches the level and skill level of your abilities from what I noticed.

+1, i also got into 5k+. i had 3 named opponents, 2 of them quit and 1 you could see clearly they are human. Others where "Your opponent" and played rly badly and never quit even when i roped them to see it.

another great "hint" that those are AIs is that their mercenaries are always EXACTLY your level. If you bring 2 level 1s, 2 level 10s, 1 level 13 and 1 level 18 into "pvp" your enemy (always found after searching for 1 minute and about 45 seconds) will have mercenaries with exact those levels. Sadly it starts to become the norm to add bots into "pvp"-games to boost the players ego (winning more than 50% of the games on average) and shorter queue times... Even big games like fortnite or the newest pokemon-moba is doing the same shit - Nowadays in a lot of games you can't be sure if playing ranked actually means you play against real players

To give a game a fair chance, I'd say you'd have to spend atleast a few hours. A game where you have to aquire champions/cards needs time or money to do so, so you might not even experience the ones you would really like in those few hours. And asking someone who's invested has never been a bad idea before trying something out, the things they like might be things you know you wouldn't.

13:50 That's not entirely true. Overall damage is important, but nuking down certain key targets in games like this is always worth it, especially if you can predict finishing it before it gets its attack off. If you leave 3 alive to poke them down individually you're not taking into account buffs, taunts, shields/immune, your own characters dying and other shenannigans. It really depends on the situation, but usually focusing on the critical damage will be the best play in this game until the meta gets silly.

I was thinking the exact thing. I'd go as far as saying speed killing IS what you want to do. 3 fast hits taking down a unit, saves more damage back to you than taking 3 hits.

I think this mod suffers from how long it takes for light spender or F2P to catch up to the pre order openers since there are major ability lvl gap and roaster gap between those who opened extra 50 packs and those who didn't

You only are able to matched up to people who have the same level / ability levels or hearthstone will generate an AI for you to fight instead if it can’t find you an opponent

You still only have 6 on your team... so you'd probably face same roster as other low spenders or AI which usually doesnt have good synergy and is an easy win. Whales and high levels prob face more human opponents as well

Interesting game mode, cool to watch someone else play for a bit. Definitely think it will end up the same as duels, small but fairly dedicated player base, still less popular than bgs and regular hearthstone

Once you have all the mercenaries of a certain rarity you start getting portraits whenever you would've gotten a mercenary of that rarity - sort of how duplicate protection works in regular packs, but portraits instead of dupes. You probably have all the rares, it's pretty easy to get there.

I played Hearthstone for the first time in a year yesterday to check out mercenaries after playing almost every day since open beta. I finished the first PvE chapter and yea, that was enough mercenaries for me lol. Came to check out if there is anything more to this game mode, but apparently not other than throwing money at it…

My first PvP went pretty well. I got two murloc synergy minions from my newbie packs and while they were focusing down my taunt minion my murlocs were rapidly snowballing. One murloc attack causing other murlocs to also attack for free and summons a 6/6 murloc that buffs my murlocs health and damage. The other murloc does damage with a spell and gives health to my murlocs. They also have a spell that repeats for every murloc on the board. By the time I had my fourth murloc it was too late for them to catch up and even kill the tokens reliably.

it's really doesn't increase though. you have chance to meet slightly weaker or slightly stronger other player OR AI BOT. don't be that stupid guy who play level 1 and level 2 ability on pvp. the reason is this slight difference are actually huge on low level. level 2 ability is literally twice as strong as level 1 level 3 ability is literally 3 times stronger than level 1 ability. while the gap between 3 4 and 5 is small. i already able to enjoy pvp after 5 hour gameplay.

@@tuno9819 They can't have the advantage because matchmaking won't match you up against a player with different skill level mercenaries. I.e if you have a total of 7 upgraded skills they'll also have 7 upgraded skills. And near if not exactly the same level for their mercenaries too.

I feel like it's the production value/effort more than anything; this doesn't look any worse than most other games of its type, but, for example, seeing Tyrion come out with "PUT YOUR FAITH IN THE LIGHT" with no music cue and this wimpy "thud" when he lands doesn't feel good.
