@stormraven2327 I made it out alive and was able to leave Oakland in early 2021 during the height of the pandemic after having moved there in 2017. During the summer of 2020, I was also robbed and had a short shotgun in my face for around 30 seconds. The rapid decline and lawlessness I saw evolve over my short time living in Oakland is something I'll never forget.

There is no community but instead this dog eat dog world that only profits the top hence the trend of a few hoarding more and more to become billionaires while more and more Americans are living paycheck by paycheck and when they can't stand it anymore, crime is their only solutions for something better. Look at the countries with the least amount of crime and you will see that the majority of ppl earn a comfortable living hence it would make their lives worse if they commit crimes. In America, it's headed in the opposite direction... the rules and laws only make the top richer and the bottom is done. A gun is a hobby until you think it's the only way you can eat. Cheers

I wonder of there is a study comparing "diverse" counties with "non-diverse" (or less diverse) counties. I'm guessing that the lower the "diversity", the lower the crime. Diversity is not a strength, but a challenge within any population that has to be overcome. Seems Oakland might be suffering for a while. Improved socialization, standardization of societal norms, and punishment or negative consequences for bad behavior will improve the situation, but they'll never see the need. They still believe that "diversity is a strength".

it makes me laugh a bit because the people who are complaining about the violence (although it is horrible and wrong) are the same people who are transplants in these neighborhoods. you cant move somewhere and expect the people in that city or region to adapt to what you think is normal. ive lived in the bay my entire life. If you from here you know that Oakland always been poppin like this, this is nothing new. so yes although we do owe it to ourselves to be voting the right leaders in office, it is also our responsibility to do our due diligence on neighborhoods and cities we plan on moving to …😊
